Hello, we’ve booked to take our baby abroad in September and wondered if anyone had any practical advise or tips on what to take/not take, things to consider etc.

We’re only just getting to grips with having a newborn so want to think ahead and be prepared!

Thanks for your help!

Are you breast or bottle feeding?

Watching with interest, I'm traveling this weekend with my little one Confused

I’ll just be bottle feeding by then.

Where are you going and how old will the baby be?

Your baby will still be pretty small - much easier than travelling when older! I'd say a sling will make your life easier with plane/train travel.

For bottle feeding you can take baby milk on board. Personally I'd get ready-mades to make life easier. Milton tablets for sterilising.

Oops meant to mention age- that would help wouldn’t it?! She’ll be 7 months and we’re going to Spain.

Ok I fly monthly solo with my 8 month old and have done since 3m.

-take a sling, even if you take the pram to the gate. It makes getting on the plane much easier.

-feed during take off and landing to help ear pressure.

-change nappies before you board. On shorthaul I only change on the plane of there's a poo.

-a couple of not noisy toys. I find a Lamaze toy good, and a mirror is popular.

  • a large muslin is great as a blanket, mopping up fluid, and playing peekaboo.

-if possible, I go to the play area and let DS kick about and burn off some energy before boarding.

Hope that helps!
