Chesty cough for over 7 weeks

Hello everyone, I need some advice, my little boy who is now 1 has had a chesty cough and snotty green nose with a rattling chest for 7 weeks now! He had a chest X-ray in Friday and it has come back as 'no further action required' which is good but im also a bit fed up as at least if it did show as something then they could solve this and he could get better!

He also doesn't eat a lot and everything I make he doesnt want and when he does eat it's only little bits.

Any advice? I can only get a drs appointment next Thursday! Just so exhausting and he is being clingy too. Also doesn't help that he is teething.

Is the eating related to the cough? Is he losing weight?

I sympathise as we ended up taking our 14 month ds to A&E (on GP's advice) due to his coughing. Turned out just to be a bad cold. Only advice was to make sure he drank as much fluids as possible.

Poor little man. Have you tried him with a dose of Ibruprofen tonsee if his demeanour improves? Teething can be miserable.

Getting him in a steamy room should help with the nose and chest too.

If he gets any worse, I’d call 111 straightaway though.

Forgot 2 things, if he’s not eating, will he drink his milk and does he have a temperature?

Thanku guys, I managed to get a drs appointment today and they have given him a strong dose antibiotic! So hopefully that will kick it out. He hasn't been eating well just hasn't been bothered n drinking either but he did today which is good. No temperature either. Just feel like finally someone has done something! Smile

I've always been a bit wary of ibuprofen... don't know why HmmI think I read an article once about it with babies and it scared me Confused

Ah glad he’s been seen. I only recommended a dose of Ibruprofen because it’s much better for dental pain but I’m sure paracetamol would be fine Smile

Ds coughed every night until I started leaving his window open a tiny bit.
