Gripe water

Hello all!
Baby has been diagnosed with cmpa and started on nutramigen yesterday. He’d previously been on reflux milk. Anyway, he’s throwing up a lot of this new milk but also struggling to bring up wind. I’ve just given him some gripe water part way through the feed (sent hubby out to buy it as little one was screaming) and it brought up some wind nicely, but unfortunately a load of milk too.
Can anyone advise when best to give the gripe water in order to minimise the amount of milk thrown up? Shall I put it in his bottle?
Also, I’m considering adding a thickener to his milk to help it stay down, which one would you all suggest? I haven’t a clue!
Thanks all!Flowers

I didn’t think you could buy gripewater any more

The original formula contained alcohol and sugar in addition to sodium bicarbonate and dill oil. Present-day products do not contain alcohol

According to Wikipedia a 2000 review in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine found that most of the ingredients in Woodward's gripe water are of little value in relieving infantile discomfort. A 2012 review also came out against the use of these products.

Recommend seeing peadiatrician and getting formula for reflux and help with feeding to reduce wind

Our son had very bad reflux and it was only with a prescription formula that things improved

DD had reflux. Infacol and colief made no difference (I had DD during the great gripe water shortage of 2012 and through the insanity contemplated buying one of the crazy inflated prices on eBay (yes nearly £40 a bottle))

I bf so was dairy free n e way. But nothing but a pead referral to get ranitidine and domperidone helped. It never made her symptomless. Just marginally less puky

He’s been on ranitidine already and it didn’t help his reflux.
The next bottle he I had last night I Tried the gripe water (available from asda) in his feed and that helped with the wind a lot and not as much sick.
I’m at my wits end with the gp and this reflux, they’ve been awful! I just don’t know what to do about thickening his milk to keep it down a bit better? he’s coming up to ten weeks old, Mum has suggested a little baby rice in his milk but I’m not sure due to his age.

Ask if you can get a referral to a pediatrician. GPs were aweful when j was dealing with it. They point blank refused to believe my DD had reflux until she went to her 6 week check and she'd lost tons of weight and was just skin n bones.

We started off on ranitidene but then domperidone was added the following week when it had made no difference. Our peadiatrician at the hospital was fab and we had his secretarys number. As soon as she deteriorated again he got us into his clinics and changed the doses of her meds every 3-4 weeks as she grew.

Hope you get some help soon.its so so stressful. DD is now a very healthy 6 year old. U wouldn't have thought there was anything wrong with her. But it was a long 18-24 month till she grew out of it

He’s with a specialist st the hospital, she’s lovely. Finally good to talk to someone and they listen to me, I knew I was right, he has cmpa!
He’s done the whole screaming fit again tonight. I’m really not sure if it’s a combination of the cmpa, reflux and colic. I just don’t know what to do for the best as he looks in pain and is inconsolable Sad

Definitely do not give a ten week old baby rice. Never put any solids in a bottle at all. I know it's hard but it will get better, go back to the specialist or your GP.

That’s what I thought! Glad I haven’t done it then
