Will be using cloth on new baby when he arrives and have had a nappy ladie come round and show us styles, wraps and waht we would need. We both like the Mother ease and the Totbots terry ones, i also LOVED to bamboo totsbots, looked really slim and very cute, she didnt recommend them that much , what has your experince been with these? She did say that they take ages to dry, not to much of a problem as i have tumble dryer, airer and garden but we want to get a mix and if they are not that absorbernt we dont want to waste £8.00+

Also what wraps do you use, is it all ways the Motherease ( they seem nice) thank you

Hi pink

We use the bamboo totsbots and they are brill! Much better than the terry ones because if you don't tumble dry the terry ones they go really really hard. The bamboo ones take a bit longer to dry but not much - I would definitely recommend them.

The best wraps I found were the motherease rikki ones - big enough to fit over any nappy, breathable but never leak.

But of course it depends on you and your baby and what works best for you - might be a good idea to get a few different ones and once your baby is here see which ones seem to work best

Hope this helps

Bamboozle tots are lovely but Tots classics are really nice too. TBH, I don't think it makes much difference for the size 1s. My DS pooed so much, I never got to test out just how absorbent they were. And they only fitted him for 5 months or so, so they didn't get very crunchy. The classics are fairly cheap secondhand because people love the Bamboozles so much - so you can buy them and sell them on for much the same price. Try the Nappy Lady's classified ads - I haven't bought any new nappies for the new arrival, just secondhand. And they still look like new. Once you move up a size, it's a bit different - they get a LOT more wear, and absorbency really comes into play then.

I like Rikki wraps too for small babies, but once they reach the stage when they can undo the velcro, the Airflow ones are the best. Not even my 22 month old can undo the poppers!

We use the Totsbots bamboo nappies, and have got on well with them so far, they do take a bit longer to dry than the bumbles we use, we've only had to tumble dry a couples of times over the winter. I have found they are a bit on the small side for DS (15 months)he either big for his age or they have shrunk a bit. I know there are problems with the non applix version(which is what we have, but I think they have been discontinued.
Ive found Motherease to be the best wraps, and use both the rikki and airflow, rikkis a bit slimmer and better for daytime.

Bambineos are a much wider weight range than tots bamboozles - I use them the majority of the time. If you get the nippa version you can use size 2 from birth which helps save some money.

Wraps - motherease are by far the most reliable - rikki for a newborn, and then airflow as baby gets bigger

Flamesparrow · 08/05/2007 20:53

Oh, and there are no problems with the bambineo nippas.

It may be worth speaking to your local council. They may do a trial pack which could prevent you buying ones that don't suit your new arrival. We have totsbots fluffles and bamboozles (as well as Fuzzi Bunz for in the house only - don't stand up to lots of wee!). Fluffles dry really quickly but are significantly more bulky. My fave are bamboozles with an additional fleecey (and slightly padded) liner. Really absorbant and quite thin. Loads of people use the Rikki wraps but we have a new totsbots wrap (it has leg gussets [never been fond of that word ] so doesn't leak). Totsbots do day packs with 5 nappies and one wrap in them which work out cheaper.

Oh and if yoyu buy second hand, try and get the ones with two layers of poppers - you can (allegedly) fold them over and use them for smaller babies. (Goes for fluffle and bamboozle).

I'm using bamboo (Bambineos) and don't have outside drying space or a tumble dryer. I've really not found the extra drying time an issue tbh.

I love how slim they are - much, much slimmer than the Tots Bots (cotton) I have, and they are extremely absorbent. We've had fewer leaks with them than with the disposables we were using and they last overnight no problem.

sorry - think i am confusing myself - Are the Bambino (mio)one the one you put the extra bit in - dont want them ones _ the bamboo one are the colourful ones -yes ????

Bambino mio are prefolds - just a rectangle of fabric you fold in a pad inside a wrap.

Bambineos are similar to bamboozles - just a slightly different shape.

ok, think ive got in now, thanks flamesparrow!!
