Trying to get some new ideas Smile
Especially for dinner. I feel like I might be giving my dc too many carbs, bread, pasta etc because I'm at a loss of what else is substational enough to fill them up at dinner. Thanks!

There is nothing wrong with carbs. A for a balanced meal of carbs, protein and veg.

I used to make a load of fish pies, sausage casseroles, Shepherds pie, broccoli pasta cheese, cannelloni, stews etc and freeze them in little tupper ware tubs so they were easy to just pull out of the freezer for tea. I also did things like omelette with various things in and soups for him.

Thank you indubious some good ideas there.

Ours always had whatever we were having. Just mashed down.
That was only 5/6 years ago.

Cheese and yogurts are good too. Scrambled eggs are quick n easy.

My DC loved humous mixed with greek yoghurt and baby bread sticks to dip in it. Or Avabanana - the annabel karmel baby dip of mashed banana and avocado mixed together with greek yoghurt, on baby rice cakes.

Depends on what you mean by Dinner, around here we have it about noon Smile

For dinner they loved “bits” which was basically just bits of whaterever we had in like ham, cheese, raisins, peppers, hummus etc. Eggy bread, sardines on toast, sandwich and raw veg.

For tea they ate pretty much what we had so tonight that would be sausage and mash with veg. They also like things like spag bol and roast dinners. If you’re after sone ideas for family meals try the babyled Weaning cookbook. I borrowed finger foods for babies and toddlers from our library and that had sone good ideas too.

DD would have lived on sweet potato wedges if I’d let her though Smile

The Weaning Section on MN is pretty helpful too Smile

Mine is a couple of months older now but ate much the same at 9m and just has what we have unless particularly salty/ unhealthy. If I’m making freezer friendly meals I batch cook and freeze a load so we always have Shepard’s/ cottage pies, spaghetti bolognaise, lasagne, fish pie, pasta sauces etc ready to go on nights he does have what we have.

Little pita breads filled with anything you like -chicken, salad bits, veg, cheese...

Eggs bread always a big hit, still is

Gravy stew (buy a slow cooker if you haven’t t got one, just bung everything in overnight)

Baked potato (tuna and cheese was ds’s fave, still is)

Hummus crisps (available from Holland and Barrett) filled with anything you like (these are crunchy, ds might have had a few teeth when I started giving these)

Cooked spinach mixed with plain yoghurt is a quick veg to add to any meal.

Mush anything up for the pitas/hummous crisps, then as dc gets older, just get lumpier.

Thanks for the tips everyone! She does have a few things which were mentioned... pitta bread, cheese, tomato, cucumber, baby rice cakes, carrot sticks, bread sticks sometimes with Dairylea or hummus. Sorry to clarify dinner (to me) is the evening meal... 5.30ish (for DC) she has pasta, jacket potato, sometimes reasonably healthy oven food like sweet potato Wedges (as mentioned above) I have taken some tips & made a sheppards pie tonight (with quorn mince) she loved it & some is in the fridge & freezer. So thanks for your advice! May attempt cannelloni tomorrow... Grin
