Hello!
Just wondering what the best way to make up anti reflux milk whilst out and about please? I have a perfect prep machine but have no bottle warmer. He’s on 4ounces.
Thank you! smile

Hey, depending on when my DD is due a bottle when we are out I will either take a bottle of boiling water (correct amount of water for oz of powder) from the kettle and put it in a thermal holder so by the time she is due it is generally the correct temperature or you can leave it to cool a bit if they are due fairly soon when out and about. I have heard of some people taking an actual flask of boiling water to use. Boiled water will obviously cool to room temperature so if you just take the correct amount of water in a bottle then it will only cool to room temperature so will be fine. Hope that all makes sense! We have a prep machine and DD is on reflux milk, you can just use the prep machine to put in the correct water and just take that out and then add the powder when needed, depends if your baby likes to have the bottle a bit warmer!

He’s not bothered about temperature, luckily! I was worried in case the powder won’t dissolve properly if i do as you’ve said and just put the water in out of the Oreo machine then add powder. Also how long will the water by itself in a bottle keep for please?
Thank you!

We use aptamil reflux and that has dissolved ok when the water is at room temperature but to be honest I always put a bit extra boiling water in the bottle so when I come to use it, the bottle is often at roughly the right temperature. Most things I've read they last for up to 24hrs (without the powder in, just the boiling water) although I'm really not 100%. I know people that make up the water in bottles the night before for night feeds so that is obviously over at least 12hrs. Once the powder is added they then say to use within 2hours but just the boiling water would be fine if you're out for the day!

That’s fab thank you! I wasn’t sure if the water was to be used within 2 hours (I know to use a made up bottle within 2 hours).
You’ve been a great help, I feel I can now go out and leave the house now! Been putting off going out because of making up this milk.
Look out world here we come! SmileGrin

No worries Smile enjoy getting out and you'll soon get into the flow of the preparation of bottles Grin
