and i am not good on routines

I need 2 kids aged 2 and 3 1/2 washed, dressed and breakfasted and out of the house
by 8.30 at latest

breakfast needs to be cooked (porridge).

I get up at around 6 with kids but am knackered because I go to bed way too late (mainly because its my only time to study). So priority #1 is coffee and coming to on MN for me.

So I have 2.5 hours, which should be enough really, but I am always rushing

you lot seem organised, suggestions please.

(you are going to say "put clothes out the night before" aren't you? oh dear)

I am strangely fascinated by this thread.
Kate and Leslie, I admire your organisation.
Princess - I have to confess that they aren't big on breakfast. I suspect they fill up on milk so aren't hungry til later. DS will eat dry cornfakes while watching TV. They both have a cereal bar in the car.
We brush teeth in living room (I know, I know).

OMG realise I am a tyrant with DCs in morning my parents ran their house like a military operation and it worked -especially for the mornings with having to get out to school etc.

I have almost 4 yr old at preschool and almost 1 yr old and I am SAHM. I have special clock in 4yr olds room, a bunny that lights up, so he knows when he can get up! Downstairs for breakfast at 7 whilst both in PJs -both sloppy eaters. Milkshake on CH5 in the kitchen whilst me and DH make breakfast and empty dishwasher, drink cup of tea. When Little Princess finishes 7.40am we head upstairs. 4 year old knows that he has 40 mins to eat breakfast whilst being distracted by TV so whatever he hasn't eaten by then gets left

Dressed both of them and me by 8am -keep them both in my bedroom so no escaping. Back downstairs to play and me to try to get load of washing in etc or quick hoover before the chaos of 1 yr old emptying toy basket all over the floor. Coats on 8.20 and leave at 8.30.

Don't allow too much time - you will just do everything slowly and be late! I got up at 7.18 one day last week and had 3 children (aged 5, 3, and 8 months) out by 8.40ish. I always intend to get up soon after 6.30 however!

We (or rather they) have porridge too - we cook it in a 1.5 litre plastic measuring jug in the microwave and leave the jug to soak afterwards. You can even have it ready in the fridge so you can stick it in the microwave while you shower.
