Nearly one year old not interested in milk

My DS is one in a few weeks and just the past few days he doesn’t seem to want his bottle. Drinks 2 ounces a time I’d say he probably has 10 ounces a day. I try and encourage him to drink some juice but again probably an ounce or so. I know they should be drink around a pint a day but he just doesn’t want it. He’s absolutly fine in himself, teething so miserable at times. Eating fine and wet nappies. I am trying to encourage him but he’s just not interested. Should I be concerned?

From 1 year they only need around 300mls and that amount includes any milk in cereal, in foods and other dairy products

He needs 350mg of calcium a day. This can be from yoghurts, cheese or forfeited food. As long as he is getting the right amount of calcium then he does not need any milk.

My dd did this, stopped bf by 11 months and I was struggling to get a 5 oz bottle down her by 12 months. Just make sure they get lots of yogurt, cheese, cream sauces etc.

I think this is normal as others have said. Suggest giving him water - juice has too much sugar (pure or cordial).

Is the above on top of wAter or instead of?

DS (now 7) went off his milk at around 12 months. He has refused it ever since 😔 but he is now an incredibly healthy 7 year old.

Of course, I would encourage you to keep trying but yoghurt and cheese are other food sources of calcium if he refuses milk.

At 12 months mine were only having a small cup of milk first thing and one at bedtime, I thought that was fairly normal. They got calcium from other sources such as cheese and yoghurt.
