Help... my 7 month old hates the car seat

From 6 months we started to notice our LO was not happy going in his car seat. We had been told all babies hate car seats, and with a bit of distraction it wasn’t too bad. However, now it has suddenly become traumatic. He arches his back as soon as we get him close, he screams the place down. We have had to calm him down and try again, but he won’t have it. Today it took us 45 mins of attempting to get him in. We need to get him in car seat to go anywhere, but I’m now getting nervous for when I’m on my own and if he kicks off like this, I have visions of not being able to go out anywhere.
He’s also started not liking being strapped into his high chair either. He’s a really happy playful baby the rest of the time, but strap him in his high chair or attempt the car seat and it’s like a different baby. Any advice.

Something which was pointed out to me recently - does he wear "clothes" or babygrows during the day? Sometimes when they're in a sitting position babygrows can become much tighter on their legs/feet and be uncomfortable.

Travel sickness? Mine hardly ever goes in a car so she actually finds it exciting when she does, but when she does she often starts crying after about 10 mins. A dummy helps (guess it's like sucking boiled sweets if your ears hurt on a flight).

Apparently I always screamed in a car as a baby and I still get badly travel sick as an adult.

If your DS is 91st centile, do some thorough research into car seats because he will outgrow an 18kg seat way before 4 so you will need to then buy another seat.

I'd recommend reading through the Facebook group 'car seat advice for mummies and daddies' and look at the Axkid Minikid and Britax Two Way Elite.

Please don't think of putting him forward facing any time soon Sad Rear facing is 5 times safer at any age.
