Bunged up baby

How do you get a baby with a blocked nose to sleep? We’re trying calpol, saline drops, baby vicks- I’ve managed to get that squeezy thing up her nose which would clear it except she bursts out crying and gets snotty again. Literally laying on me, laying down on her back, front, side, raised, in her bouncer- nothing is helping!!! She’s so over tired and so am I!

How old is she? The nasal drops are designed to losen the snot, then you need to suck it out with a nasal aspiratior. The Calpol vapour plug ins are great and they usually sell in Tesco etc if you can get one. Try sitting in the bathroom with a hot shower on and the steam may help. Depends how little she is but it’s generally just shit when they have colds.

We have found Snufflebabe vapour drops in a vaporiser to work the best. the Calpol plug in does the same job but is for slightly older babies and my (almost one year old) baby seems to find it quite overpowering- might just be him though.

Snufflebabe also do a vapour rub.

Saline spray/drops are good, we have Sterimar (though DS doesn't like it and pushes it away).

Hope you manage to get your baby to sleep soon Flowers

7months.
Think I’ll go buy the vapour plug in. If she could just let me use aspiratior without having an epic meltdown I know it would work but as it is the amount of tears and subsequent phlegm makes it worse.

Someone on here once told me to put my shower on as hot as it would go. Close door to bathroom and wait till it filled up with steam. Stand in there with baby for a while.

Vicks on their feet

Same situation here with 4 month old!!

The only way to get him to sleep is in his bouncy chair to keep his head above his body to drain the snot

You can buy vaporub candles in B&M for 60p, they are great for me (sinusitis)

Oh and Albas oil on tissue near them helps
