Looking at getting some new reading books for my DD as she absolutely loves books. She loves all the Pip & Posy books & we have them all now. We have to read one at least every single day! Therefore i fancy a change now as I'm getting fed up of reading them.
Does anyone recommend anything before I buy anything?

A few that we liked around that age:

The Duck books by Jez Alborough (Captain Duck, Duck in a Truck etc.)

Rebecca Patterson - My Big Shouting Day and a couple of others about Bella and Bob

Shirley Hughes - the Alfie ones and Lily and Bobbo ones

These are all ones that I thought were funny and enjoyable to read as well as the kids loving them.

Gruffalo and Julia Donaldson's books?!

theaveragewife · 02/03/2018 19:47

You Choose is brilliant
The Smartest Giant in Town
The Very Hungry Caterpillar (still my favourite book)
No-bot the Robot
Don't Kiss The Frog (a series of stories which don't revolve around a traditional fairytale ending)

My DD really loved maisy at that age. I did too to be fair! What about miffy? Have a look at some Lauren child or john burningham books too.

Uffishthought · 02/03/2018 19:53

All the Julia Donaldson ones.
Shirley Hughes - the Alfie books, but also her poetry books are nice at this age
Frog books by Max Velthuijs

fannyanddick · 02/03/2018 19:55

We love all the Judith Kerr books, Mog, When Willy Went to the Wedding etc

NinaNoSleep · 02/03/2018 20:04

Michael Rosens 'We're going on a bear hunt' so good for retelling and for rhythme and pattern in story.

Miffy. Read these to my dc's and used them again as early readers when they started to read.

Thanks all, some really good recommendations there, I've just realised I have some Julia Donaldson books which I put away a few months back as DD didn't seem interested in them at the time but I'm going to dig them out & try again.
Looking at ordering some others off Amazon that people have mentioned. Smile

Ladybird first favourite tales. They have loads - 3 little pigs, Goldilocks, wizard of oz, the magic porridge pot etc. My two year old LOVES them. My mum buys him a new one everytime she sees him!

lorisparkle · 02/03/2018 20:35

How about a trip to the library. My ds all love going and choosing some new books. Any firm favourites you could look at buying.

We love Dear Zoo, Owl Babies, Avocado Baby, Each Peach Pear Plum, Titch, as well as ones previously mentioned.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 02/03/2018 20:39

Lynley Dodd's Hairy Maclary etc are brilliant much better than Julia Donaldson
Kipper Books
Press here & mix it up are both utterly brilliant & different from most kids books.
There's a cat in this book etc (lift the flaps)

bookmum08 · 02/03/2018 20:44

Go to the library. Let your child rummage through the boxes. Some will be brilliant classics others a bit meh. But they are free and you can't go wrong with that!!

Scotinoz · 02/03/2018 22:02

I have a nearly 3 year old and we love Pip&Posy too ☺️

Spot, Kipper, Alfie, other Julia Donaldson, Apple Tree Farm, Usborne 'Peep Inside...' (not story books but good never the less), and Maisy are also very popular with her.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 02/03/2018 23:41

debbiewest0 · 06/03/2018 16:40

Definitely agree with Oi Frog and its sequels - amazing clever books and we just picked up the special world book day edition too. We laugh at these a lot

Littlelambpeep · 06/03/2018 16:47
