Teething hell! Help!

Hit me with all your hints and tricks! Poor ds is in a right state, he's barely slept for four days now. He hates bonjella and screams when he sees the tube, will take ibuprofen, and is dosed up throughout the night. Teething granules and cold teethers don't seem to help. He won't let anyone go near his mouth and won't chomp on anything other than his hand. I'm desperate to get him more comfortable, when he does sleep he whimpers until he wakes up and does his pain cry.

We are snowed in so can only make it to my local shop (nisa) and a small pharmacy if needed.

ambesol liquid is easier to get on that bonjela... DS still hates it but I can do it quickly as it doesn't keep sliding around like the gel. When it's really bad (NOW!) I give him calpol during the day when needed and then ibuprofen at night. He's currently gone off his food too so just giving him yoghurts and fruit.

Unfortunately some babies get through teething really easily and with others it effects them horribly Sad. I also find it keeps getting worse with each new tooth - he's almost completely cut his top molars however his bottom ones are now coming through and its f*ing horrendous. He hasn't slept past 4am since beginning of December because of these 4 molars and wakes up screaming in pain because ibuprofen has worn off. He's also started waking twice at night too Sad.

Hope it gets a bit better!

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear you're going through it too. I braved the snow to get to the pharmacy and got some ambesol. Also found that I can stage paracetamol and ibuprofen which hopefully will help tonight. I hate giving him so much medicine, but if it were me in pain I wouldn't think twice about popping a couple of painkillers. It's odd Confused

I used to put banana on lolly sticks & freeze it & give her rings of apple to naw in. She was quite good with taking bonjela & granules but like you I'm not sure how much they helped!! Just seeing it through mostly Sad maybe he has a tooath breaking through hopefully the worse will be over in a few days!!

Have you tried amber jewellery too?

WhiteRabbitWhiteRabbit · 01/03/2018 17:08

Ilovemybaby91 he has four trying to cut at once the poor lamb. Sad

He's refusing to bite anything hard atm, I've tried freezing different fruits but he won't touch them.

We do have an amber bracelet knocking around, I'll have to find it out. It was slightly too big when I last tried it. Hopefully it'll fit now. Thanks for reminding me.

Calpol and Ashton's & Parsons I find work with my DD. These two are the only things I use and they work wonders for me.

I don't find teething gel work because they just suck it off the gums.
Good luck and hope your LO has some sleep soon

Ilovemybaby91 · 01/03/2018 19:08

God my spelling was awful on that last post lol! Phone error not brain error sorry Blush yes found the same with my DD bracelet was to big & I forgot about it. Again not sure how much it helps but you'll try anything... bless him poor love. Hope he feels better sion!

JediStoleMyBike · 01/03/2018 19:10

I second the recommendation of ambesol. It was the only thing that worked for our DD.

Ilovemybaby91 · 01/03/2018 19:14

Sorry but my spelling of tooth on the last post has me lol'ing tooath HmmGrin

My 6mo DS has just had his bottom two teeth pop through and he has struggled SO bad the past couple months. He's now got the amber bracelet round his ankle and it actually does seemed to have calmed him, at night he's sleeping better anyway might be a coincidence Idk. Other than that he loves his sophie the giraffe teether, teetha granules help for a short time and then when it gets really bad I resort to nurofen. He is so much better now they've popped through so there's light at the end of the tunnel 😀

WhiteRabbitWhiteRabbit · 01/03/2018 23:06

Lana1234 glad you've found improvement with the amber jewellery. I've found out his bracelet and it's back in place, hopefully it'll help a bit. He was awful with his bottom two, but it was manageable with granules and ibuprofen. But this is something else. He's barely sleeping and whimpering when he does. These bastard teeth need to cut so he can get some relief.

He's settled for now after being dosed up in every way possible, wish me luck ladies. I need to sleep!

Ibuprofen is recommended for teething pain.

I honestly can recommend you an article, which was a great help for me, a complete how-to guide, so maybe you will find it useful as well: altodiversi.com/blogs/news/complete-guide-to-choose-the-best-amber-teething-necklace-2018
Good luck to you and Baby Smile
