Hello, I am currently doing research on the treatment of young people within society with particular focus on how they are managed while in public spaces.. I would like to find out more from parents' point of view about how they feel when their young person is out without supervision and what they would like to be done to improve circumstances.

A question I would like to ask is.. where does your young person spend the majority of their free time?

What age range?

fjohns202 · 27/02/2018 14:32

Ranging from primary school up until around 22 years.

That’s a pretty wide remit.

Tell us how you received ethical approval to collect this information, and how it will be used.

I received ethical approval from a dissertation supervisor.. and the collected data will be used in my personal dissertation to display views of parents on aspects such as street safety and harsh discipline from authorities and the state.

It is such a wide age range as those are the ages of young people who spend leisure time out in their communities.

Research comprising of a single question?

fjohns202 · 27/02/2018 14:58

That is one of the questions.

I think, kindly, we’re just trying to point out that this possibly isn’t the best way to get what you need.

Ethic approval to collect data from other people should come from an ethics panel, not a single supervisor.
Your single question, covering children and young adults, might not give you really what you want or need.

Which university is it from? Who is your supervisor? You need to clear advertise participants right to withdraw from your study.

Suburbanfocks · 27/02/2018 18:53

How would this get past the ethics board? And how would you collect and present the data in and academic way? How would you reference it?
