Hi all, after some advice. DD's started having little accidents daily it seems since the new baby's come along. She's never had a problem like this before so I'm convinced it's some kind of phychosomatic reaction to becoming a big sister and suddenly not getting the attention she's used to. I've tried to reason with her to make sure she knows to give herself enough time to go, both at school and home. I've quizzed her about whether she might have an infection and needs to see a doctor. (I don't think she does). And of course we've tried our best to explain to her how demanding a baby can be. She does love her baby brother and she's otherwise a very mature and thoughtful little girl, it's really upsetting to think we've somehow done this to her. What can we do now? I'm covered in baby sick and now piss having gone through the laundry basket. Confused

We went through similar when our second was born. I spoke to the HV who suggested 1) water infection and to get checked out, 2) to ensure she was drinking enough during the day as apparently this helps them to not have accidents and 3) as you say, as an attention thing.

For us it was a combination of 2 and 3. Time was the healer and making things about our dd so she felt included. In our case she was younger and it was only at night, but she'd been dry at night for 2 years. I would say that at age 7 and in the day time, that if not a water infection then it's most likely attention seeking. Don't explain what hard work a baby is again. Once is fine but now focus on her and her needs and schedule time to do things with her. Also make her feel grown up by giving her responsibility for things.

Thank you! Yes that makes sense and I hadn't thought about no.2. I don't think she drinks enough anyway but do you know how and why this works?

I think if the urine is dilute it is less irritant to the bladder.
