6m and sleep has totally changed

We have gone from having a baby that would sleep most nights 7-7am to one that will now wake up in the evening with the widest eyes, kicking around, punching out, hyper as anything, crying etc - has to be fed more and even that doesn’t work, to eventually be able to calm her down so she goes back to sleep but then she wakes constantly just crying out for nothing- sometimes I end up falling asleep next to her cot while she just whacks at my arm.

During the day she’s normal apart from being a bit more tired- but at night she is behaving so oddly and high as a kite - it’s like she’s had a massive bag of sweets!

We have started her on food in the last week so could it be related? Tonight she only had a watercress soup so it’s not like she had any fruit with sugar in or anything. I’m so puzzled?! I don’t get it and it’s horrible to watch her acting so erratically.

Is she over tired?? I don’t get it??

I’d try giving her solids just once or twice a day at this age and in the morning so that she has chance to digest it fully before nighttime.

There’s also a growth spurt at 6 months Smile

It's really common when they start weaning. I have a video of DD around the same age at about 2am in the morning wild eyed, babbling and jumping up and down in her cot (she learnt to stand around 6 months too Hmm)

Give it a week and things may start to calm down. If not you could look at moving bedtimes/naptimes slightly.

Just letting you know I'm in the same boat. My 6 month old previous 7-7 sleeper, now wakes every morning at 3am for an hour party, then goes back to sleep at 4, sometimes after a feed, sometimes without the feed, then starts his day at 5:30. I'm knackered. Been happening since we started solids (2 weeks now) and I have no idea why either!
I'm just going with it, hoping it will pass.

Thanks all!! she can be absolutely hilarious when she’s squealing and laughing her head off but then before you know it, it’s midnight and no signs of calming down lol, kicking out and then the tears start. I shall try and give the second meal earlier- good idea. I guess I need to cook in advance rather than give her some of the evening meal. Just glad it’s normal and I don’t have an adhd baby haha!

Me too! I save some of my dinner for baby's lunch the next day. Saves me arsing around preparing loads of meals.

Tried it an hour earlier and she’s here now wide eyed and squealing .... it will all end in tears HmmGrin any reason for it in particular?? Is it the excitement of food??
