I ASKED ABOUT SUN CREAM LAST WEEK, NOW I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT AFTER SUN! I KNOW I MIGHT SEEM SILLY OR OVERREACTING, BUT WILL MY DD 18 MONTHS NEED A DIFFERENT AFTERSUN TO ME? I USE AN HAWIAAN TROPIC ALOE VERE ONE.

They shouldn't be in the sun long enough to need it. Keep them covered up and covered in sun cream if you do have to go out.

Hillls · 02/05/2007 20:54

Aftersun Isnt that for burnt or heated skin? Surely babies skin is not exposed enough to need after sun

ScottishThistle · 02/05/2007 20:54

I've always used e45 with children or a similar moisturiser which is hypoallergenic etc.

shouldnt need it as shouldnt be in sun long enough.

lizandlulu · 02/05/2007 20:58

OK THANK YOU. I HAVE ALWAYS USED AN AFTERSUN AFTER BEING OUT IN ANY AMOUNT OF SUN. HER ARMS AND LEGS WILL BE IN SOME SUN WHEN WE GO ON HOLIDAY AS IT IS UNAVOIDABLE WHEN SWIMMING AND WALKING ABOUT ETC. I THINK I WILL JUST TAKE A TUBE OF BABY MOISTURISER THEN.

they will need it whether left out in the sun or not, even walking to the shops on a hot day can expose your child to many harmfull rays

Hillls · 02/05/2007 21:00

what about sun suits?

lizandlulu · 02/05/2007 21:03

YES I HAVE ONE OF THOSE. I HAVE MY SUN PROTECTION ALL SORTED OUT AND FEEL FAIRLY CONFIDENT THAT SHE WILL BE FINE. ITS JUST I WAS CONFUSED ABOUT WEATHER OR NOT TO USE AN AFTERSUN AT ALL. I THOUGHT I SHOULD AS I WOULD REPLACE ANY LOST MOISTURE OUT OF THE SKIN.

You're right lizandlulu, very important to moisturise skin especially after sun exposure.

Furball · 05/05/2007 07:32

I take some to, being in the swimming pool or sea everyday could dry their skin. Try your one here first just to see if there is any reaction. If not, I'd just use that one.

ps Capital letters on these sorts of sites means YOU ARE SHOUTING! I know you are not here but could be misunderstood on a different thread.

hi .. just for your information .. the convention is that when you TALK IN CAPITALS it means you are shouting .. just thought you might like to know and have a nice holiday

lizandlulu · 05/05/2007 20:54

don't feel embarrassed! perfectly normal question!

my personal opinion is a special baby aftersun product is just manufacturers making a lot of money. I would put some pure olive oil in her bath, or Weleda baby oil, or just ordinary cream, whatever you usually use.. I find olive oil is the best for nourishing the skin though. enjoy your hols!

Aqueous cream or diprobase is just as good for a baby.
