When do they stop putting EVERYTHING in their mouth?

I have 16 month old twins whose sole purpose is to seek out the fluff, mud and unidentifiable ‘bits’ and cram them into their mouths. I’ve got quite used to the endless hoovering, but when will the time come when we can go in the garden without them eating fistfuls of gravel? Or go to the seaside without consuming pebbles? Is this summer too much to hope for?! Our toddler didn’t seem so interested in doing this so I just need to know when I can go outside?!

My two year old will still put the odd thing in her mouth but between 18-24 months it had got a lot less

Thank you, I will cling on to this hope that it could get easier in a couple of months! Imagining a summer of me staring out the window forlornly

Ds is nearly 14 and still like this Grin

Seriously - ds1 didn't do this much at all (from memory - 16 years ago) but ds2 has always put EVERYTHING in his mouth and even now will suck on his sleeves/clothing/bits of paper/pens - drives me completely bonkers...!
