lots of people don't like kushies. I got on with them ok, but they are quite slow to dry though so be prepared for that. I used mine as changing bag nappies because they were so much easier to put on than a two pirce. Also other people such as my brother found them easier to use than 2 piece ones. Good luck with them. They are definately worth a try if the price is right.

nikki, I use kushies. I really like them because they're easy, and my DS hated the wraps that come with most other cloth nappies. And my DH could bear to use them!

They can go in the tumbledryer (although that can break the outer covering down over time so only when you have to!), or in the winter mine dried fine on a radiator, and in this weather, they've been on the line. I've only had 10 of each size, and that's been fine, although I do have to wash every night, so would rather have at least 15...

I've been really glad I've used all in ones now that DS is 8 months and wriggles all over the changing mat...!!

I hated them. They looked very uncomfy, were so stiff I could never get a close fit, took ages to dry, wicked at the back, need I say more. Plus it's a bad idea to put them in the tumble dryer as it damages the outer layer. I got rid of them and used ME and Tots bots and never looked back.

Pixiefish · 03/05/2007 16:12

Look for some wonderoos or another pocket system if you can't cope with the two piece system. Kushies really are horrible and don't work very well.

They are rated by the magazines only becasue they're the ones that the big shops sell and the only ones they test run

HenriettaHippo · 03/05/2007 16:20

I still like mine, and have friends who also use them.

Best thing is to try out a few different nappies, and see what you like best. I did this, tried loads, including tots bots, motherease, bamboozles (can't remember any more) through a local council scheme. Still preferred the kushies...

Each to their own. My DS just screamed every time a wrap went near him!

nikki81 · 03/05/2007 19:38

Hi. Well I got my kushies today and she has been in them all day. Had a massive poo earlier and I didn't change her quick enough and it leaked out abit! Just wondered if anyone has washing instructions for these so I know what temp they can be washed at etc please? Thanks

I bought some from Sainsbury's last month, asked MN about them and everyone said they were terrible & held almost nothing so I took them back. I did have a good look at them and close up I'm glad I took them back tbh.

40 degrees in non-bio is fine. I've found rinsing mine in the machine in cold water before the 40 wash has helped keep the amonia whiff down (when teething etc). plus a glug of white vinegar in the fabric conditioner section to help get all the powder out in the rinse. HTH

tutu100 · 03/05/2007 19:58

I have washed mine at 60 and they are still fine. Once your child has solid poos they keep it all in fine. Sorry if that's TMI.

HenriettaHippo · 04/05/2007 10:37

agree once poos are solid they rarely leak, and mine don't wick often either. No more often than Pampers or Huggies... .

HenriettaHippo · 04/05/2007 19:38

nikki81, where are you? Are you anywhere near me? DS2 has just grown out of the first size kushies, and is in the larger ones. I've got 10 of the smaller ones if you'd like them. They've been used since last November every day, so they're no longer beautifully white (!) - I could send them to you for cost of postage if you'd like them?

yummymummy06 · 04/05/2007 19:52

Hi. I am in colchester essex Henrietta. Where are you? Just brought 9 of them. She has been in them all day today and all day yesterday and im so pleased with myself. I think they are fab! Thanks for your advice everyone, im glad I chose to use these. Not had any leaks today and she can keep them on for a good 3- 4 hours! Changed my user name by the way.

HenriettaHippo · 04/05/2007 22:02

yummymummy, I'm in Bristol, so couldn't be much further away from you! but if you'd like some more kushies (I found 10 was ok, but had to wash them every night, and now have 15 of the next size), I don't mind sending them just for postage cost. DH and I are pretty much decided 2 is it for us...! You probably wouldn't need them all, but would be welcome! Let me know and we can email or something.

yummymummy06 · 04/05/2007 22:15

Hi henriettahippo, thank you very that is very kind of you. The ones I brought are second hand and look abit tatty, but still fine for using! I would be interested though as you can never have enough! This is my email address [email protected], look foward to hearing from you.

lyrabelacqua · 04/05/2007 22:22

I used Kushies, they were great, almost as easy as disposables (apart from the washing of course). I didn't use them at night though because they leaked, even with the booster pad.

HenriettaHippo · 04/05/2007 22:23

i've emailed you just now. look forward to hearing from you, and getting some more outgrown baby stuff off my spare bed!!!!

redbeki · 05/05/2007 21:16

I used them years ago,and would never again.I think they are rubbish. With seperates, they are more fiddly to put on,but they don't leak like kooshies.Mine were second hand too,and really worn,I had one new one ,and that was just as bad.Go for seperates.

mummydoit · 05/05/2007 22:14

I used Kushies for both my DSs and loved them. Tried Bambino Mio first but they were useless - leaked all the time. Switched to Kushies, the ones with the separate wraps and used those for DS1. Washed at 60 degrees and tumble-dried every time as I found them much softer that way than dried on the line. They lasted well enough to use for DS2. I also got some second-hand Kushies Ultras (the all-in-ones with no separate cover) for DS2. Again, I always tumble-dried them and they lasted till he was potty-trained at age three. I did use a disposable at night as I found they could leak and they were getting a bit small towards the end but DS2 is a big boy for three.

yummymummy06 · 06/05/2007 15:50

Hi. Thanks for your replies. I really like the kushies, they are so easy and not had a leak yet. I do like to soak them as it feel cleaner and I wash them with towels or sheets and underwear. I tend to rinse them and put in a bucket, how does everyone deal with the poo ones and if there are marks on the nappies? I brought some dettel today, could I add some to the bucket to help clean them? I am very tempted to use them at night as I am still using a disposible but am worried they will leak, I guess I can try!
