I am off on a little jaunt next week (center parcs) and just realised that whilst being a great organiser ensuring we have all mod cons, we have no washer in our villa! Dont think they will have a launderette, any tips or ideas to do as dont want to transport wiffy nappies around with me for a week and stench the car out on the way home!! But soooooo dont want to go sposies for a week. Arghhhhhh! I could always wash them in the bath but hes teething and were getting some right runny ones and i lie a nice bath myself!!

Center Parcs do have a launderette, but tbh I would reccomend you get either some Bambo Eco or Moltex nappies for the week and use cloth at night, then you;ve only got a handful of nappies to take home or rinse in the bath if you can be bothered.

Naturebotts do next day delivery on all their orders and also do rolls of biodegradable nappy sacks. Their service has always been fab.

Moltex have changed their design recently to be more eco friendly so are no longer elasticated at the back. If you've got a young b/f baby - that might mean leaks, but they might be ok for an older baby/toddler.

Bambo Eco is cheaper and just as good in terms of performance, but may not last the night if you have a really heavy wetter which is why I take cloth for nights away.

Their eco baby wipes are excellent too.

Having said all that - you would only need one launderette trip - but it would be as pricey as buying sposies if you had to dry them too tbh!

You'll love CP btw - it's soooo fab for children!

I'd be surprised if centerparcs don't have washing facilities - I'd phone and double check.

However unless they have a way of washing them you would be better with disposables for a week. Do you really want to spend your holiday hand washing nappies?

nappyzone · 01/05/2007 14:41

no i dont want to wash on holiday but as a retailer if someone liked the look of my young uns botty wear i could plug my business whilst on holiday which i couldnt if he was in a sposie! ha ha! I going to ring as it would be good to get rid of dh to launderette for a couple of hrs one evening if i could! maybe i could knock on a villas door that is executive and ask to do my washing for me or nobble a cleaner - that would go down well im sure ha ha! Mmmm

Hi nappyzone, let me know how you get on, we are going in July and have twoo in nappies at the mo. Had to book a bog standard villa as taking the dog and those are the only ones you can have a dog in. Don't fancy wasting time at the lauderette when on hol

nappyzone · 01/05/2007 15:47

apparently there is a launderette (were going to sherwood), still dont fancy a two mile trek to wash my nappies! We have a dishwasher in ours - maybe i could put them in there - urghhh!

Nappyzone - we went to Sherwood CP earlierthis year and whilst not brave enough to take our washable nappies I can say that the launderette is great. DD projectile vomitted several times whilst we were there and the washers and driers are clean and industrial sized. It costs about £1.50 to wash and £2.00 to dry IIRK or they do a service wash - where they wash & dry for you - that's £7.00.

LilRedWG · 01/05/2007 15:51

Nappyzone - The launderette is right in the centre next to the information area, so you could drop off on your way to the pool/restaurant and pick up later.

nappyzone · 01/05/2007 15:56

lilredwg - thanks for that, thats helpful - i will take my lovelies thats it decided! I will take sposies too in case i dont get there and have a mix - after all i am on holiday! The woman on phone said i could leave them in villa and someoen would collect and wash for me to later collect but i never told her what she would be collecting and frankly i dont trust anyone else to wash them - i will dutifully go do it myself at launderette - im sure with a flask of wine and a magazine i will enjoy the break! The weather will be blissful anyway so no need to dry in the dryers!

we went away last summer and i didn't realise i would have to pay for the washing machine and was too tight to do so. i had just brought terry squares which were pretty easy to handwash and more hygenic as easy to rinse. they dried overnight in the airing cupboard or out on the line. for night time i used minki stuffable ones which also dry quickly. it was fine. i can see how mums kept fit in former times as it is a good workout washing the nappies in the bath and wringing them out!!. thankfully ds had solid poos so with disposible liners they weren't really a problem. just give the bath a good clean and it will be fine. my friend's mum used to take her family camping and wash terries in the burn!! up to you if you can be bothered though, not everyone's cup of tea on holiday.

LilRedWG · 02/05/2007 08:17

Nappyzone - we just left our washing to it and went for a swim. Not sure if you can dry outside - didn't see any lines or airers

Have a great holiday!

nappyaddict · 04/05/2007 20:04

if you are going for no more than a week and don't fancy washing just take as many as you have got, rinse them out and bring them back to wash.

juuule · 04/05/2007 20:22

Like Nappyaddict suggestion, I always took enough for the week, rinsed them and washed them when I got home

nappyaddict · 04/05/2007 20:44

don't think it would work if abroad though.

nappyzone · 11/05/2007 19:02

well im back and yes they had a launderette which i dutifully sent dh to one evening but he came back with offending nappies as he couldnt work the machines and said that there was a sign saying not to add powder and conditioner as the machine automatically does for the price and knowing how psycho i get over nappy washing he didnt want to risk ruining our holiday ha ha! Anyway i rinsed them and bought them home - i had enough all but the last morning so not a bad trip and no hardship - big drying frame in bathroom like a radiator so drying not a problem snugglebum. My boy mainly pooped at swimming time so it was always his sposie swim nappy anyway which was lucky for us! I think we got a few raised eyebrows at our dodgey heiny and drybee prints which amused me anyway around the pool side! A bit gutted my pea pods did not come in time for my trip but all in all center parcs came up trumps again apart from there extortionate prices which my dh likes to grumble about but it keeps him happy lol!
