Waking baby to feed

Lo is 11 days old, we are ebf at the moment and it has been roughly 5 hours since his last feed, he's been mostly asleep since then,

I changed him about 30 mins ago and while that woke him up he just went straight back to sleep. I tried to offer him the boob but he doesn't seem interested (this is a first!) should I be worried?

I managed to wake him up by tickling his feet etc but when I offered him the breast he just went straight back to sleep.... Confused

He's had plenty of wet nappies today and has been putting on weight well but usually wakes for a feed every few hours...

Personally I'd let him sleep. I never woke either of mine. got told off by the midwife on DDs first night at home for letting her sleep 6hours

I wouldn't leave a newborn to sleep too long to be honest. They can go down hill so quickly.
Have you tried stripping the two of you off and going to bed for some skin to skin, so the baby can access the breast?

I had to keep nudging and jiggling DS to get him to feed at that stage. Didn't last long!

It’s fine, tomorrow they may not nap at all and feed all day, newborns are random. Just keep offering once awake and keep an eye on wet nappies.

He promptly woke up about 5 mins after I posted this and wanted feeding!

Parenthood seems to be a never ending cycle of second guessing ourselves! Grin

Fwiw, I asked my hv almost the exact same thing when Dd was less than two weeks old and she told me not to wake her. She was also generally healthy and gaining well.

If there's wet nappies and weight gain I let them sleep. Enjoy your break. They'll let you know when their hungry! :)

If he's regained his birthweight and is generally well, wet nappies etc id let him sleep! You may just have got yourself a good one there. I knew from 4 days that I had an epic sleeper and at 14 months she's not let me down yet!
