Feeling a bit crap - positive vibes please!

As thread title says, feeling a bit crap.

I love my DD (16mo) to bits, but some days I feel like a really crap mum. I've had the TV on most of the day to provide some background noise as I find my days at home with her (I work 2 days a week) quite lonely. I didn't find it this hard before winter, but when it rains we get stuck inside a lot and I feel rubbish. We don't have a car, there are busses, but they are infrequent and unreliable so I don't use them often.

Hoping someone will tell me it's ok for a toddler to spend most of their life stuck in one room! Watching "educational" baby DVDs..... I just wish it would warm up and not rain for a few days so we could get out an about, I feel like a good mum when the weather is good!

(Possibly part of the crap feeling is due to lack of sleep, she's never been a great sleeper and is usually awake 3 or 4 times a night)

My baby is 8 months and I feel the exact same!

I don’t know past this mark but it’s so hard to keep them entertained in this weather.

Bring on summer I say :)

16mo is bloody difficult age to have them inside - big enough to thunder around destroying stuff but too small to spend long concentrating on anything much

Posted too soon...

Do you have an all in one waterproof suit thing-o for her? I found mine really changed my attitude to going out - I pop DS in his suit and wellies and we walk up and down the road finding puddles for 5minutes and by the time you come back you feel like you’ve done some really impressive outdoor Mum-stuff and you deserve a cup of tea and some tv Smile

We are so similar expect my baby is only 6months

I feel like this often as I also don't have a car and the weather has been rubbish I usually have to on in the back ground while I play with him. I sometimes go all day not talking to anyone else expect a little baby boy who probably thinks I'm mental until tea time when DP comes home

I try to motivate myself to plan my day out and not just loll around - I try to plan different activities for different hours and it makes my day go faster :)

I totally know how you feel and I'm sure when the weather perks up you'll be buzzing to do things aga n

Ps. You're not a bad mum

Thanks ladies :-)

The sun is out some more today, which makes a big difference! My DD has a snowsuit for wet weather, but her shoes aren't waterproof (wellies start atsize 4 as far as I can find), so I worry about her feet being damp and chilly ifwe stayout too long in the rain. She won't keep her gloves on either but then her hands get so cold!

I shouldn't grumble, we have more to do within walking distance than many people, and I bet most people find this stage of motherhood quite isolating. I like the idea of planning little activities throughout the day, might give play do a shot this afternoon :-)
