Travel cot/ cot advice

My baby has been sleeping in a bed nest (co sleeping crib). However, she has learnt how to push the mesh sides down on the side we have used the most (next to me/our bed) and she's having a good go at pushing the other side which is obviously the drop to the floor side. So I am not happy for her to be in it anymore.

Her cot won't fit in our room so that option is no good and she's not old enough to go in her room on her own. So I am thinking of getting a travel cot for the interim. She slept so well in a travel cot with a bassinette level at my in-laws so I was looking for something similar.

However, I am now reading that the bassinette is only suitable until around three months and she is 4 months (17 weeks) so is that a no go? Why? She didn't seem unsafe in it at my in-laws.

I'm very short so having her in the bottom of a travel cot will be really hard for me to lower her and get her out. I've had a go with a cot with no raised level and I would be almost dropping her into the cot/falling into it with her. If I don't go for a bassinette level then does anyone have any good and safe suggestions about getting my baby in and out etc?

Sorry for the million questions but I don't know what to do for the best and I don't have a load of money to spend on whatever solution I go for either. Thank you for reading and for any advice!

We have a waldin side sleeper: www.amazon.co.uk/WALDIN-Bedside-Co-Sleeping-adjustable-untreated/dp/B00BY2WVKU?tag=mumsnetforum-21

It is adjusted to the height of our bed so he is effectively sleeping on the same surface as us.

My son slept in it until 6 months (when we went off travelling for 5 months!). Now he's 13 months and we're back home I still have it next to our bed despite him being in a cot in his own room. It's handy when he's having an unsettled night or is poorly.

PS we also didn't have sufficient space to fit a cot in our room... the Waldin is cradle sized so just about fitted in the small space. You can also use it as a cradle if you don't fancy the side sleeper option. My son (who measures as mr average size wise) still fits in it comfortably at 13 months.

I had a similar issue with a standard travel cot, it was impossible to lift DS in and out of it. I ended up buying one with a side panel that unzips completely. Phil & Teds Traveller IIRC. Not cheap but really compact and we will hopefully get a lot of use out of it.

Chicco lullago

Lullago was also on my list but it’s smaller and doesn’t last as long so I thought the P&T Traveller would be better value in the longer term.
