I would personally just offer real food. You don't need one of these. Mine was eating cucumber and melon and plums and bananas just fine from 6 months, so there isn't an advantage to using one. Baby will still have to learn to control foods in the mouth to prevent them slipping down the throat, but they may help with learning to pick things up as long as you quickly move on once that skill is mastered. But if you do want to use it, obviously things that are soft enough to go through it.

What will they think of next? Presumably for parents too lazy to mash their kids' food and sit with them while they learn to feed themselves.

I don’t think they’re very good for teeth (if your dc has any yet).

Waste of time and utterly bizarre in my opinion. Who'd want to eat food sucked through a synthetic mesh? Just give your kid some banana or sweet potato to hold and let them get on with it!

LovingLola · 24/01/2018 17:22

At that age mine were eating slivers of fruit, grated cheese etc.. much better for their fine motor skills than sucking puree through a net...

How do you clean them?

ladybirdie26 · 24/01/2018 19:29

FYI I DO sit with my baby and let her learn how to eat @TinklyLittleLaugh - presuming I'm lazy is hilarious. We are currently doing BLW but just thought I'd try these mainly regarding putting frozen fruit in to help with teeth!

If you're going to do frozen fruit I'd imagine anything like blueberries, mango, raspberries etc would be good - nothing too tart. Don't be surprised if they turn their nose up at it though - mine couldn't tolerate anything too cold and pulled faces at even cucumber from the fridge. Good idea for teeth though if they'll take to it
