Hi, My DD is nearly 11yr and has started to sprout little boobs,I know from my own experience that periods aren't far behind. She knows all about periods etc and is very open about it all (unlike me!!!) I would like to get her a little bag with 'the necessary stuff' can anyone reccommend a good 'first towel' ? I know I sound silly but............................

When my dd started her periods at 11, we went through every brand and she finally settled for bodyform regular & bodyform super with wings for night time. Ihad prepared her well before they started, shown her how to fix them in her nix & how to dispose of them. Just as well, she was away from home the weekend it happened.

My dd has been very happy with Natracare . She wouldn't entertain the idea of washable pads such as Wemoon so we settled for the Natracare.

I have 2 sons so no knowledge of this but my best mate has an 11 year old daughter and she has a little special bag hidden away in her school bag that contains some towels, a clean pair of knickers and one of those small travel packs of baby wipes so that if it happens at school she is as prepared as she can be.

The Mum also helped her practise to put one into her knickers and let her wear it for a while so it wouldn't be totally alien when it happened -in case she wasn't there.

I would like to say well done for thinking ahead.

i would say get some with wings-feel more comfortable and help to stop it going on to her knickers, maybe causing a bit of upset?make sure she knows where they are and give her a few to go to school with too.i started mine at 11 (in primary school) and it helped to know where they were at home and what i had to do with them, etc.
