If your child got into a fight with another child, how would you feel if the other child's older sister (who is 25) screamed and shouted in your child's face until they were hysterical, even if your child was partly to blame?

I would tell her to behave like an adult, not to scream at ANY of the children, and to leave the parenting to the parents. How DARE she.

And maybe M's mother should supervise rather than leaving her child to be minded by a 6 and 7 year old!

PerfectMother · 27/04/2007 16:20

(sorry, not taking the piss with the nickname, forgot I had namechanged)

YeahBut · 27/04/2007 16:21

I think you should apologise on your dd's behalf for the bite, however, you should make it absolutely clear that your dd is not a babysitter. There is no way she should have the responsibility of looking after a 3y.o. and I'm not surprised she gets hacked off.

I'm with the Perfect one on this. Pretty much word for word in fact.

FiveFingeredFiend · 27/04/2007 16:23

i would metaphorically rip her a brand new shiny anus

LoveMyGirls · 27/04/2007 16:25

OMG I'd be fuming too. The 25 yr old sounds immature and pathetic - screaming at a 6yr old ffs!!

I think if i was you I would speak to M's mother about the whole incident and say from now on your dd is not helping to look after M so its up to her to watch her dd (which she should be doing anyway)

The 25yr old has no right to scream at your child in that way at all.

chacha3 · 27/04/2007 16:25

she cant go around shouting at other peoples children like that! accusing! when she dont even know the full facts! just go and see the woman that was shouting at your daughter and calmy tell her next time she has a problem that concerns your daughter to come and see you first then you will deal with your daughter if need be!!

DumbledoresGirl · 27/04/2007 16:25

I am with YeahBut. I wouldn't be able to confront the sister with her behaviour, but only because I know I couldn't do it without showing my own temper. So I would just apologise for the bite and say that it is perhaps not a good idea for the 3 yo to be sent out in the care of a 6 and 7 yo.

I am normally on the side of people telling other peoples kids off btw - i have no problem with people calmly putting my kids on the right path but screaming and swearing just goes far too far beyond that.

moretomorrow · 27/04/2007 16:29

i would call it verbal assault.

LynetteScavo · 27/04/2007 16:31

I agree with Yeah but too. I think you should point out that you have kept DD in, and that she is very upset over the whole incident.

she sounds like a VERY immature woman. I'd have it out with her, TBH. why on earth go round the neighbours?!

ladyoflincoln · 27/04/2007 16:54

if the 25 year old received the same (lack of) care and attention from her mother that her 3 year old sister seems to be getting whilst she was growning up, no wonder she is immature and unreasonable!

although i think it is and the way this girl handled the incident, i would maybe let the dust settle a bit? if you speak to them now things could escalate further and you will still have to live near them..

they sound a rather shocking family

glad it sounds like it is sorted..

I just let DH read this and he he said "call the police and let them know". Who's to say next time the big sister won't hit a child if she has a temper like that on her. She is an adult and cannot go around shouting at people's children like that. I had something similar with a negihbour a couple fo years ago who grabbed DS2 by the arm, in the line at school, hauled him out the line and started screeching like a banshee "you are an evil nasty little sh*t" at him. I had to be held back by other mums, and I'm embarrased to say two of them walked me home for fear that I woul go round and belt her one. I called the police, she was a 20 year old mother of three, she should have restraint. Sorry I went off on a tangent there.

MadamePlatypus · 27/04/2007 17:20

"It ended with the sister saying, well we'll have to keep them apart for a bit." As you say, what a good idea!
