Have you ever been so obsessed with an item of your kids clothing...

That you just can't stop going in about it / showing it to everyone and making sure your child wears it to death.

Recently got a fantastic deal on a gorgeous item of clothing for my daughter.
I would never have bought it at the original price as it was stupidly expensive.
In the sale it was dead cheap, your talking 80% off. Bargain.
It's her fave colour and she loves it.

Hubby told me to shut up about it as I was getting boring. Haha

Have you ever got obsessed over something similar ???

Can't say I have. Sorry!

SingingSands · 20/01/2018 17:14

No. Never.

But I’m not into designer labels and neither are my kids.

OlafLovesAnna · 20/01/2018 17:14

I had a wahm dress in a retro Snow White print that dd and I both adored, she wore it an awful lot I have to admit.

@SingingSands no I'm not into designer labels either. Even though this item was quite expensive at its initial price it still isn't a designer item 😒
Anyhow I can still fall in love with items no matter what the cost or brand In fact I tend to love them more when they're a bargain.

@OlafLovesAnna sometimes there's just that odd item u can't help but fall in love with is there. It sort of reminds me of that one sleepsuit that they wore lots as a baby.

I do sometimes have favourite clothes and I'll admit to making sure they get washed first! But I don't tend to talk to others about it because I don't really think they would be very interested.

I used to buy a lot of DS's clothes on ebay and shop quite carefully for them - never paid over £4 for a t-shirt or £8 for a trouser/jacket, that was my rule, but I did get lots of compliments on how lovely and bright his clothes were as a baby. I was really keen to avoid the pale blue / brown sludge options. It was fun, I still like finding clothes for him, but it's much harder now he's older because everything is sludge coloured!

Angela1472 · 20/01/2018 19:23

I’m desperate to know what the item is!

Chocolate1984 · 20/01/2018 19:25

Not clothes but I love my daughter's Yumbox lunch box. Never losing Tupperware lids, only one box in the cupboard, compartments force you put more effort in.

Slanetylor · 20/01/2018 19:27

I totally do this! And only with amazing bargains too. It makes me love something much more!!

moita · 20/01/2018 19:36

I love my one year old's cords and shirt I got him for his first birthday party. Will definitely keep them.

Mrsjellybum · 20/01/2018 19:57

@Slanetylor thank the lord I though it was just me.

Yes. I'm the same. I love cute little clothes for my dd1 and 2. I also prefer 2nd hand. My mil buys them really nice designer type clothes S Oliver and Tom tailor. My favourites are nice t shirts. Got so many. Was delighted to have a 2nd girl so I could use all the clothes again.

My ‘thing’ is pyjamas OP. I bloody love traditional button up pyjamas on my ds and get a bit silly over them Blush

ILoveDolly · 20/01/2018 20:30

Yep. My dd had a oilcloth coat from Gap that had the best pattern. In fact that season I bought two outfits and that coat that I literally loved. I kept them after she outgrew them, and passed them on to a relative. I have now had them back and I just have them in the cupboard. I still love them!

DownWentTheFlag · 20/01/2018 20:32

Yes! Bought a lovely winter coat for DS, at a bargain price. It was good quality and I know it will last to be passed down to my younger son.
I was really proud of my purchase.
DH ruined it by scrawling DS’s name inside the collar with a Sharpie. —instead of using a Stickin name label because DH wouldn’t even know we have Stickins ARGGHH—

Lallypopstick · 20/01/2018 20:34

Is this a stealth advert where you post the link to said item? Hmm

Novia · 20/01/2018 20:40

I know what you mean OP. I love a good print and a good bargain! I love a particular European designer and only buy when they are 60% off but then get tons for the following season. There was a particular print of a pink pretzel on green which I bloody loved - DD had the dress and MC Hammer pants! Sounds awful, but it was really cute and quirky and I loved them!

Novia · 20/01/2018 20:43

Come on - show/tell us your bargain!

Mrsjellybum · 20/01/2018 20:47

@Novia I shan't post mainly because it's a very distinct item and I have many family and friends on MN and would rather remain incognito so to speak.
Sorry lol

For me, those are the items which go in the loft to cry over when they grow up.
I bought a denim jumpsuit for my son 6 years old. Kept it and then had a daughter. Put it on her by chance and she owned it. She wore it so much and looked amazing. People commented, we’re surprised it used to be her brother’s,
It’s not been passed on.

My other is the puddle Suit I bought. £2 from a local group. Completely changed her enjoyment of rainy days!

K

Mrsjellybum · 21/01/2018 08:49

@KatyN I have a treasure box. 1 for each DD. They are in there wardrobe and I keep popping items in when they grow out of them. I try and limit myself to 1 item per age range. They can look at them when older

I never had anything from when I was younger and feel sad about that so I'm trying to make sure they have treasures to look back on x
