Nappies for changing bag/moving to reusable for night-time

I was looking for advice on buying a few more nappies for taking out with me & also what I should use for night-time as I currently stick ds 2 in a sposie (he's nearly 5 months & 16 pounds).

I have a mixture of nippa WBB's/Bambineos and fluffles (2 popper/4 nippa) with 1 lone MEO (but I haven't got a booster for it). I'm finding that the popper fluffles are way easier to put on when I'm out and about as the booster is already snapped in & there's a built-in liner. BUT they're soooo bulky, 2 take up half my bag! Anything to suggest that I can preferably buy 2nd hand as the budget's a bit tight (tho I might sell a couple more fluffles)? I have only tried a bambineo with aplix and hated it, but willing to try something else I guess. I mainly use airflows.

And given what I've got in the stash, what should I try for night-time without having to buy anything else other than extra boosters? I've not tried one yet as he sleeps through 12 hours and didn't want to risk him waking up for a nappy change - his sposie is pretty soaked in the morning. I'd rather move completely to cloth tho'.

Thanks!!

I use a wbb with the booster folded in half at the front and a bamboo terry square to boost it. I pad fold the bamboo terry so that there are 8 extra layers of bamboo terry and although it is soaked when he wakes up, it lasts the night (DS sleeps 12-13 hours). I also use Motherease airflow wraps (one size up from what I use in the day as it is quite bulky). Works for me and would be pretty cheap to try as all you would have to buy is a bamboo terry.

Recently I tried a swaddlebee stuffable as I thought it would be a good design for my ds but I found it doesnt last long for him. If your ds is not too heavy a wetter then it would be good to take out as you can make it up before you go and it goes on like a disp. You can even do the poppers up and use it like a pull up. Think lots of people like them and I really wanted to like them but it just didnt work for me. Might be worth a try?

If you like popper fastening then try a Baby BeHinds Bamboo nappy, it is a birth to potty nappy with two snap in boosters. It is a slim nappy and you will fit a fair few more in your changing bag than fluffles and it would also be an excellent night time nappy as it's bamboo and has two boosters. They are quite new to the Uk market so it may be difficult to find them second hand though

Bambineos come in popper now too

I use bamboo for night with extra bambineo boosters and a wool wrap.

Daytime nappy bag - for quick changes you could go with pocket nappies... I have just got my first fuzzi and I quite like it - its easy to use, stuff it before you go out and it is fine, and I have even shoved a wbb inside it at a push

I really really don't want to know that they come with poppers now, I already have 10 and I'm hankering after a blue one as my cream ones have turned pink. Actually i really prefer the old wbb's to the new ones which have too much elastic and don't seem wide enough for ds's bottom iyswim.

But what I was after was something with a snap-in/integral booster & liner plus poppers/velcro as I find it a pita to manage a nippa+nappy+wrap+booster+liner with a WBB out and about. I love them at home.

at 2 nappies on a 4 month old, but he does have an enormous feed before bedtime!

Like the look of the baby behinds v.much indeed, very tempted when I have more funds available. Ditto with swaddlebee although I thought that flame didn't rate them? I got confused with the diff. swaddlebees.

Think a pocket-style might be worth a try for day then. I'll buy some more boosters anyway for the MEO. And I think I'll try a wbb with 2 boosters and airflow as it's what I already have and see if he lasts. It's just the wbb is already soaked after 3 hours on one booster. If that doesn't work I guess I'll stick the MEO over a wbb!

The Baby beehinds hemp are good too for night, I either use a hemp insert between nappy and wrap or a folded bamboo terry to boost (more vesatile than made up boosters), for out and about, I tried loads of pockets but they just didn't last so now I keep either a Tots Bamboozle or MEOS in the bag plus a bamboo terry which doubles as change mat and spare nappy and rolls up really small.

Thanks MrsWS, not so sure with hemp as we're in v.v.hard water area? But I was thinking the MEO might be a useful bag nappy if I buy a couple more plus the boosters - I've come round to mine, hated it with a vengeance before. Do you mean pockets aren't very absorbant for you? I was quite taken with the fuzzi.

Methinks someone is getting addicted

accessorizewithbabysick · 29/04/2007 20:44

who, me? We'll wait until your ds has grown out of his fluffles & see whether it happens to you! I soo want to buy a swaddlebees......i managed to dye the rest of my wbb's pink today (even the green ones), sodding ds1's red knickers keep popping up everywhere!!!

Oh I already have my dream nappy shopping list at the ready, as soon as he gets close to growing out of them it shall be posted
May need to invest in something for night though soon. For some reason a fluffle coupled with a pad folded terry is getting to be just for a greedy guts who feeds far too much at night
