Substituting milk

Hi there, I have a 15 month old son who is breastfed. He eats really well and is now down to only one breastfeed before bedtime however he has never accepted a bottle of formula and doesn’t enjoy drinking cows milk. He will happily drink water from a sippy cup or 360 cup but if I give him cows milk he will take a sip and then just stop. Even if he’s really thirsty he will wait to be given water in the cup instead.

So my question is how much dairy alternatives do I need to give to get him his RDA of calcium. He currently will take around 100ml/4oz ish of cow milk in his porridge for breakfast, at least 1 fromage frais or yoghurt and will most days have a babybel cheese for lunch or a snack or sometimes some cheddar instead. Then he will have a breastfeed before bed. He might also have a bit of milk in food such as mash potato or a pasta bake/macaroni cheese but that isn’t daily obviously. I am trying to wean him off the breast completely in the coming months as I am expecting baby number 2 come the summer and don’t want to be tandem feeding.

Is there anything else I could or should be trying to give him?

Thanks

Toddlers need 350mg of calcium. My toddler is dairy free so works out at 3 portions of soya yoghurts as she barely drinks milk.

Babies don't need any other milk after being weaned from breastmilk so don't worry if he doesn't want it. It's the calcium he needs which he can get from lots of different foods. :)
