One year old still ‘posseting’

My DD turned one at the end of December.

She always posseted a lot ever since she was newborn. We would often spend the days covered in milk and getting changed! This carried on even when she was weaned at 6 Months. Often bringing up ‘watery food’ not really ever hard food, so if she had for example a fromage frais after her meal some of that might come up mixed with water. She isn’t being ‘sick’ and it seems to come up without any effort or with a burp.

After meals we always used to try and keep her sitting when she played rather than laying etc to let her food go down a bit.

As she got older it did get a bit better and I think when she reached about 11 months she mostly stopped doing it altogether.

She started to crawl on New Year’s Eve and so is all over the place now and pulling herself up etc so she doesn’t really keep still after eating anymore unless she is in her high chair.

She still has milk (breast milk) in the morning, mid afternoon and before bed and sometimes she will burb up a little bit of milk after her morning feed.

Since she has been moving about a bit more and crawling etc and drinking more water she has started doing it almost every day again, bringing up a little bit of watery food. She eats 3 meals a day and eats loads. She also has really got the hang of her cup and drinks water now not just at meal times and it seems that when she drinks a lot of water she often brings something up shortly after.

When I spoke to a health visitor a few months ago she said as she is putting on weight perfectly, is happy and healthy that it’s ok and when she starts walking and is more ‘upright’ it will stop. She said to carry on as we are as a little bit of ‘posseting’ is fine when my DD is doing so well weight and health wise.

I just wondered if anyone had any experience with this? Is there a point I need to contact a Dr or Health Visitor again or just wait until she is walking and see how she is then?

Just realised how long that post was! Sorry! Any advice or personal experiences to reassure me she is ok and it will stop would be so appreciated!

I’m glad to hear my DD isn’t the only one as we don’t know any babies her age who still do.

When your DD stopped was it when she was walking and upright more?

I had a couple of those!

DS1 was FF and upchucked after every feed until around 14mo.

DS2 stopped at 10mo. Felt like a lottery winner.

Mine were early crawlers too (5 mo) so they just used to trail milky sick all over the place. I was carpet doctors best customer.
