Gassy BF baby?

Hi all, my boy is 10 weeks old, feeds really well but get very bad gas. I hear conflicting things about diet and breastfeeding and what effect it can have.
I was just wondering what some of your BF experiences were and if you have any thought on why my baby is so gassy. (he literally does full on adult trumps) 😩😂

It can be diet, it's worth trying to go dairy free for a week and/or cutting out other common problem foods like onions and spicy foods.
Probably worth you getting him checked for tongue tie too - a very common cause of wind as it can affect their latch and make them swallow too much air.

Thank you, I will try and cut out dairy and see if they helps. I don't think he had a tongue tie but I do think his latch could be better.
I will try and get myself to a BF group ( easier said than done when you also have a man 18 month old) and see if they can help us.xx

If you have no luck with a breastfeeding group then ask your health visitor if she can get a breastfeeding support worker to come and see you, they have lots of info and could look at the latch as well. I needed one with my third baby even though I'd breastfed my other two, I had problems with latch and reflux issues (though it did turn out she had tongue and top lip tie)

Is it just the bug trumps that’s the problem? If it is, I wouldn’t bother changing your diet.

Nothing in your original suggests there is a problem, but if you are considering changing your diet, please have a read on Dairy & other food sensitivities in a BF babies.

Is there a Bfing Support grouo that you can get to this week?

lizzlebizzle33 · 14/01/2018 19:30

Yes there is actually one tomorrow morning if I can manage to get out of the house in time I will go and see if they can help.
It is mainly jut the massive trumps, they seem to bother him and he gets very squirmy during a feed somethings, usually if there is one brewing lol

Trumping and squirming can be totally normal, have a read of this on gassy babies. I would try to get to the Bfing group though, if only for a bit of reassurance Smile
