New or used mattress?

I've bought a used pramette for DC2 (due in April) and it's missing the mattress. I had thought about just getting a second hand one - on the basis that the baby won't be in it for very long at a time.
But given the safety warnings for overnight mattresses, I'm wondering whether they would also apply to prams, but can't find any info about whether it would be safe or not...?

We borrowed a pram but used the same mattress as like you say, LO isn’t in it much. We bought a new Moses basket mattress, and of course a really decent one for our cot as that was something we bought new.

What sort of mattress does it need? Is it just thin like a moses basket? For our carry cot, which didn't really come with a mattress, more like a padded cover, I just stuck a thick fleece blanket underneath the fitted sheet/cover thing that came with it to cushion. I don't plan for him to really sleep in there unattended and it's perfectly padded and safe. And I already had the blanket lying around. If you can made due with just making something soft and cozy to use, I would do that, rather than buying something separate (new or used) as you likely won't use it that long anyway.

@mindutopia I did think about that. I've got so many fleece blankets that it would be the cheapest option. I just worried about how comfortable it would be for baby.
But as you say they probably won't use it for long, and the whole reason I bought the pramette was so I didn't have various attachments to store, so getting a separate mattress that I then have to store is probably a little counterproductive!
