Feel guilty for sending kids to bed early

They were being hugely irritating, but I think I was being hugely sensitive and over reacted.

They'd been picking at each other on the way home from school, and then we popped into my mums and dd1 and ds carried on annoying each other.

Anyway on the walk back home we spotted a friend and her dd at the play area so we went over, and they played ok apart from a bit of whinging when i didn't jump up like a shot when they wanted a push on the swing.

When we got home they had their tea but whinged and whined throughout that too, and so by this time it was 6:30 and so I made them have a wash and get their pj's on, gave them their hot choc and put them to bed at about 7.

I just wanted a bit of peace, which sounds daft cosidering they had all been at school and nursery all day.

Fell like a selfish whinging cow now and that had I been less on edge and more laidback, the whinging would have blown over.

dont worry about early night will do no harm and better than getting wound up and ending up shouting.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 24/04/2007 21:14

Dont worry - 7pm isnt an unreasonable time to send children to bed. Probably best for all of you to get an early night

Dont feel bad.

NuttyMuffins · 24/04/2007 21:14

No i suppose not, and Ds was tired too so will do him the world of good.

Just having a shite mummy moment....again.

Gawd, if only mine would STAY in bed when I put them to bed early, lol.

They'll probably benefit from having an early night, and you definitely will!

PestoMonster · 24/04/2007 21:17

Sometimes sending them to bed early is essential to maintain your sanity. Have a drink and don't fret.
Chill

LadyTophamHatt · 24/04/2007 21:18

bloodly hell, nutty mine would be in bed at 7 every night if I had a chance....whether they'd been irritating or not!

Its Dh who lets them saty up later which pisses me right off because 9 times out of ten he says it when he;s been out at work all day and I;ve been at homw with tem all day.
I want tsome peace and quiet and he goes and ruins it.

Don't worry about it, mine wer in bed by 7:30 becauise I'm knackered and couldn't be arsed to deal with them

mears · 24/04/2007 21:18

What ages are they?

7pm sounds like a normal bedtime for nursery age cgild anyway. Enjoy the peace. If they settle send them to bed every night at this time

NuttyMuffins · 24/04/2007 21:18

I think i need to organise a treat of some kind, like a film with popcorn or something.

Things between me and xp are super strained at the mo which is whats making me tetchy, and also probably making them tetchy.

Will have a look in the video shop tommorow and see if there is a film i think we'd all fancy for friday night.

I'm a great advocate of early nights all the time. Enjoy your quiet evening and eat lots of chocolate

VeniVidiVickiQV · 24/04/2007 21:19

Get hotdogs and buns too, make it a proper movie night.

NuttyMuffins · 24/04/2007 21:20

They normaly all go at 7:30 and then the older 2 read until 8. They are 9,7 and 4.

I know it wasn't hugely early, think it was the circumstances that made me feel guilty.

Blimey just heard a really weird noise outside, am shit scared now.

I wish I could get mine in bed by 7pm, its usually nearer to 8pm by the time i get downstairs though.
Don't waste your ME time feeling guilty.

NuttyMuffins · 24/04/2007 21:21

Ohhh hot dogs, good idea, haven't had those in ages, thanks for reminding me

ChasingSquirrels · 24/04/2007 21:21

NuttyMuffins · 24/04/2007 21:21

I did the same tonight, i got so fed up with their whingeing and fighting and i was just knackered too. I feel rubbish now though for being snappy with them and only reading them two very, very short books before bed. I'll make up for it tomorrow though. You're not alone.

LaylaandSethsmum · 24/04/2007 21:30

Both mine are in bed for 7 every night - I need some peace!!

PestoMonster · 25/04/2007 11:58

NuttyMuffins, don't know whether you've got an Asda near you or not, but in ours they've got some family dvds for £3!! I put Flipper in with my weekly shop yesterday.
