Chunky 5 year old - where to get trousers?

I have 3 girls. The elder 2 are tall and slim but my 5 year old is tall and very chunky! She loves her food and definitely needs a serious post Christmas cut-back of treats (don't we all?!)!- but she's not a "fat kid" and is active and busy. I'm not posting here to be flamed for her diet... she's fine and healthy and we are taking steps to improve her diet without making food an issue.
However, I can't find trousers that fit her and she needs something more robust than leggings. Where can I get trousers to accommodate her tum?

What is her height and waist size?

  • approx 1.35m tall - waist not sure but a size 8 adult jean fits.

M&S do a ‘sturdy’ fit I think? I forget the politically correct name for fat clothes they use.

Think Next do 'comfort fit' or something in casual clothes.

Get the older sizes and some wunda web to iron up the hem or sew them up.

Look online next and M&S do plus fit and I think asda do too.

Suggest women’s size 8 trousers from H&M which you can then tailor as needed. Some of them are fairly short (calf or ankle) so might not even need to do that.

I have noticed that the George asda clothes are always too big on my children’s waists for their age clothes compared to other supermarkets.so it may be worth looking there?

Thanks everyone. She's a ray of sunshine and never stops leaping around and singing, dancing, gymnastics etc. Her body just seems to be super efficient at storing energy / fat and we are working on that but I just don't want her to feel unhappy about food or her body as she's so young! I have size 9 feet and am still traumatised about school shoe shopping as a teenager and I would hate for her to feel the same way about clothes. The rest of us have normal BMI , with middle sister on the scrawny side - it seems so unfair on her!!! And no, she's not binging as we lock treat cupboard due to ASD daughter who would scoff the lot(and still be skinny)
