Ideas for crafts for an 8 year old's birthday party

DD is going to be eight this month and wants a crafts and games party at home. There will be about 8 guests and I was thinking of doing a tie dye t-shirt with them, but if anyone has any other ideas, I'd be very grateful.

Tie Dye is very messy and quite tricky though the results are good...also can take a long time.

I would consider getting fabric paints and embellishments for them to decorate plain t shirts.

Another nice idea is to decorate a photo frame...you can take a group pic for them and print them out to put in the frame.

Love the photo frame idea - I want something that they can take home on the day! I think the tie dye will be okay if I use these www.theworks.co.uk/p/craft-hobbies/tie-dye-kit/5015934106150 I've had some great results using them with my own children - was thinking that I would keep them all and wash and dry them before giving them back the following week. Will have to remember to recommend old clothes, or provide aprons though.

Get porcelain pens and decorate plates?

A cheap white t.shirt each and fabric crayons, I also had them make their own pizzas with pizza bases and lots of bowls of stuff to sprinkle on.

You could try that old corporate favourite jelly and spaghetti towers.

Mask making is fun, plus I think places like the works sell paper shaped masks. You could also do wool Pom poms, just small ones. Very cheap and easy.

Decorating cupcakes is fun... selection of icing pens, sprinkles etc..

We did tie dying at a party recently and it was fine. We just took the t shirts home wet in a plastic bag. Just be sure to warn the parents in advance that there will be messy crafts so wear old clothes.

We made snow globes easily. Use things like glitter and add some glycerin to the water. You can print out photos to put inside the jars. I’m sure you can find the instructions online.

Excellent ideas everyone - I can see that the party is going to have to last for hours Grin. Thanks so much!

Miaow - I think I am going to get loads of stuff just for me!

I wish we had Wilko and Hobbycraft here, but I think there is a Wilko near the Leeds Ikea, where I will be going next week for my own birthday treat Wink
