10 month old feeding?

Jamummm · 02/01/2018 13:31

I know that this will vary from baby to baby but just curious.

How much food and bottles does your 10month old have?

Mines has
7am 5-7oz milk
8am breakfast
11.30am lunch
3pm up to 4oz milk
4-5pm dinner
6.30pm up to 7oz
Sometimes 4oz during the night

Im finding some days if lo has a bottle in the afternoon then doesn't take much at bedtime = unsettled nights but feel without it it's not enough milk.

I think the minimum is 20 floz until they are one so I wouldn’t introduce any more solids until then Smile

I don't think there is a minimum because they're moving to solids and it will be a very fluid process. I think the main guideline is that milk should be their main source of 'food' until they are 12 Months. Other than that it's all a bit grey area in between! X

Example for my 10mo.. he is quite a big boy!

6am - 7oz bottle
8am - weetabix and fruit smoothie
10am - 7oz bottle / snack e.g. Some apple or banana
12am - lunch (pesto pasta)
2pm - 7oz bottle / snack e.g. Biscuit
5pm - dinner (cottage pie & veg, custard or yogurt)
6.30pm - 7oz bottle

He doesn't always have any / all of his day time bottles and snacks vary a bit but he eats a lot for his main meals. Probably more than my 2.5yo!

I was told average up to 12months is 17-21oz but I struggle getting lo to take it.
Often can take only 11oz in a day. I worry lo isn't having enough but just not interested. I avoid any snacks just a 3 meals

My lo isn't small either. I heard of that's a big or solid once more...... 😂

My son is a big eater and a skinny but off the charts tall baby so I think his is a little unusual:

7:30am 9oz bottle
8:30am Breakfast: a slice of toast or two or a crumpet or French toast, fruit and yogurt
10am 8oz bottle, snack of veggie and cheese sticks
12 - lunch. Cooked meal - spaghetti Bol, or chicken curry or fish pie or something, with a pudding (usually a low sugar cake with fruit and veg in, or mousse or yogurt)
2:30pm 8oz bottle and snack - rice cakes & fruit or veg
5pm tea - beans on toast or spinach omelette or pitta strips and dips.
7pm - pre-bed 9oz bottle

He doesn’t have any milk at night, and will eat all of the food except sometimes not his breakfast, and have most of the milk.

DD 11 months (but walking unaided and extremely active)

7.30 am
Banana, slice of toast and marmalade and a few spoonfuls of cornflakes

8.30am 7oz bottle of formula before nap

11am 5oz warm bottle of cows milk and a rich tea biscuit.

12.30 a sandwich and yoghurt or possibly tomato pasta or leftovers from our supper the night before. Baked beans and fish fingers if I need to go shopping. Usually has a piece of fruit afterwards (satsuma or half an apple/pear)

1.45pm ish 7oz bottle of formula before nap

4.30pm similar stuff to lunchtime(apart from never beans at this time or she is up all night with wind), usually has a yoghurt afterwards if she didn't have one at lunch

6.45pm ish 7oz bottle of formula and then bed, sleeps through until about 6.30am

She has a sippy cup of water available that she sips at through the day and during meal times.

Things definitely got a lot easier once she got the hang of feeding herself with a spoon a few weeks ago.

At 10mo DS had dropped to two 8oz bottles per day. There's no minimum requirement, especially if they're eating a lot of dairy.

Jamummm · 02/01/2018 21:26

My lo is pretty active and in comparison eats little compared to some replies.
Gaining weight nicely and is a little chubby baby 😍 so must be getting enough. Because of smaller amounts of milk intake I feed plenty you of diary to make up for it.

Reading this makes me worry I'm not giving my little one enough food in between feeds (she's BF). Today she had one Weetabix for breakfast, a small jar of baby custard around lunch time and for dinner I gave her a slice of whole meal toast (buttered) and slices of apple which I have softened in the microwave. I didn't give her any snacks in between. She never cries for a feed so I offer BF around four times a day.

EveryoneTalkAboutPopMusic · 02/01/2018 22:14

another how old is she? Have you tried offering sone finger foods at lunch?

1sttimeunicorn · 02/01/2018 22:21

OP your routine with food sounds exactly the same as my DS, who is 9 months. Works for us at the moment. Don’t worry.

Jamummm · 02/01/2018 22:22

anothernetter that does seem quiet a small amount of food.

for breakfast mines usually eat half weetabix or half slice of toast, with a strawberry or 2/bit of banana/pear etc

lunch may be a sandwich, bowl of soup, toast and cheese, pitta bread dipped in homous, usually followed by a small yoghurt or piece of fruit etc

dinner could be spag bol, cottage pie, stew, pasta with cheese and broccoli sauce , usually a few soften sticks of veg and a small pudding.

portions are quite small but still eats a ok amount

@anothernetter that doesn’t seem like much to be honest - how old is your DC? That’s also a very beige diet - what about fruit and veg?
