Teething baby - brushing

Hi,

My 6 month old has his first tooth coming in. It's not "extremely" visible yet, but I can very slightly see the tip - I can feel it being sharp when I run my finger over his gum.

Should I be brushing it now? Or when it's fully erupted?

When it’s fully erupted I would say ...no need to cause further discomfort I think ! Saying that is completely forgotten about brushing my lo teeth!

We started DD with a silicone brush around that stage. She seemed to like it as a teether as well.

Done abit of research and I’d suggest doing so now x

We started brushing straight away as soon as first tooth appeared. When I say brushing - it was a minute amount of baby toothpaste and the toothbrush to chew on! We have always been careful about diet as well. A high sugar diet will cause more harm than lack of brushing. x

I'd say it's good to get them in the habit of it, though they'll probably just suck most of the toothpaste off. At six months I'm guessing they're not having sugar yet so don't worry if he doesn't like it or you feel like you're not doing a thorough job. Also start taking him with you to your dental checkups. The sooner he gets used to it the better.

I would start brushing it now. Toothbrushes make great teething toys for little babies and they are easy for them to hold and they can get them in the right place.

I waited until it was fully out as my son seemed in pain until then. But I got his baby toothbrush and gave it to him to play with while he watched me brush my teeth. He's nearly 12 months now and happy to have his teeth brushed.

Yeah. I'm scared that id be aggravating it unnecessarily by brushing now?

He's having no sugar so I was hoping I could wait until it's a little less painful for him!
