Little Mix concerts - are they safe events?

My DD (11) would love to go to see Little Mix and she is happy for me to take her. I just wondered how people felt about the safety of these concerts after the Ariande Grande tragedy? Thanks for your views.

Go.

It’s incredibly safe. Probably safer than staying at home.

peachypetite · 30/12/2017 20:43

How on earth can anyone on here predict the safety of a future little mix concert?

I took DD 7 in November. As safe as any other gig I've been to in my local arena - (friendly) armed police outside, pat down and body and bag scan.
We loved it btw, brilliant first concert.

happylawyermum · 30/12/2017 20:54

I guess it's 'cause no one can predict that I am just sounding out how people feel about it...

You can’t live in fear, you could be on a bus or plane that gets blown up, you could be in your town centre and a maniac drive into the crowd.

SellFridges · 30/12/2017 20:59

I took DD - she’s almost 7. I was slightly nervous (and I have been to hundreds of concerts and festivals) but I just ran through my usual “busy place” rules about what to do if we were separated.

Ecclesiastes · 30/12/2017 21:00

The most dangerous thing your DD ever does is get in a car. That goes for all children, though most parents never think (much less worry) about it.

Dancinggoat · 30/12/2017 21:09

I wouldn't let her go in the mosh pit

Hermagsjesty · 30/12/2017 21:11

I can understand your worries but rationally, it’s absolutely safe. Safer than being in a car, safer than being in your home I expect. You can’t live in fear.

Floralnomad · 30/12/2017 21:11

I think at 11 you would have to be seated anyway , most standing at large events is at least 14+ . We go to lots of concerts and I’ve never felt unsafe .

happylawyermum · 30/12/2017 21:45

Thanks for the comments, you are saying what I am thinking, so it's reassuring.

Little mix gigs are generally seated at the front... I’ve never been to an arena gig with LM where ANYONE has been seated, they all stand regardless. This is why younger kids aren’t recommended for that type of seating.

I assume you’re booking for the summer hits gig, these are more open stadiums as far as I’m aware I think this is more relaxed on the pitches (I’m not 100%) and seated generally stays seated.

Don’t be surprised to see a number of parents that get shit faced while there. It’s a joke.

DotCottonDotCom · 30/12/2017 21:52

In terms of safety-you will be fine. Security is insane these days!

scoobyloobyloo · 30/12/2017 21:58

We were at the front of one in the summer. There were some hideous parents there who had 'reserved' the front standing row by making their kids sit in the 30 degree heat and not allowing them to move because it was 'their space'. Any calls to allow 6 year olds infant as they couldn't see was met by a barrage of abuse. It actually ended up with jostling, shouting, security being called and a woman crying. With the entire row behind looking on aghast...Actually couldn't believe that people like that exist, made me feel very sad.

So, apart from the other parents, the show was very safe.

DotCottonDotCom · 30/12/2017 22:14

^ id totally add - don’t go for the front. We went front row last time and whilst we got so much love from the girls, you can’t appreciate the choreography or the videography, they have great visuals!

I’ve taken my young kids this year and have tickets for next tour.
