Sleeping arrangements for toddler and newborn

I have a 3 year old DS who still sleeps in a cot and another due in January. We are borrowing a snuzpod type thing for newborn which should be good for the first few months after which it can have the cot and DS will get a proper bed. In the longer term they will most likely be sharing a bedroom for a good few years so we would want bunk beds. In the interests of being cost effective does anyone know of a single bed that can convert into a bunk bed at a later date? I don't really want to buy the whole bunk bed now as we may move house or get an extension over the next few years, meaning they wouldn't necessarily share a room.

A decent bunk bed will be an investment as once they get old enough, sleepovers with friends will happen.

You can take some apart and store the upper bunk till' it's needed.

SandLand that looks great. And as the top bunk part has rails at the side might be good to start DS off in that as a single bed as he wouldn't roll out. Thanks

Hi there, we got one of these (low single bunk) and our eldest uses the top bunk as bed bottom as den.

(For now). You can get cot doors put on with a catch...

If I had a spare couple of grand I would totally get these, but alas I do not! www.ambientedirect.com/en/magis/me-too-bunky-staple-bed_pid_125076.html

I have a 2.5 year old and a newborn. They'll have to share once the baby leaves our room.

Current plan is:

Currently: baby in rented Bednest with Sleepyhead in our room, DS in single bed in his room (Ikea daybed which we happened to already have).

Then: Baby in cot in DS's room, DS in same bed as currently.

Then: Bunkbeds - if we get while baby still in cot, DS can go on bottom bunk (think top bunk is recommended from 5 years old?). When baby moves out of cot, DS will move up to top bunk and baby will be on bottom bunk.

These are the bunkbeds I'm looking at - their room is big but super awkward so we need small bunkbeds so that all the doors still open and they're not by the radiator!!

I think Ikea have one which you can make into bunks later

Ikea kura. Low bed for toddler to start with then you can flip it to a midsleeper. Older child goes on too and space underneath can be used as a play space or you put bed slats in the floor and a mattress to make bunk beds. If you search kura in IKEA page they show you the different arrangements.
