Our DS's are stinky too, but it doesn't bother me too much...it just makes me change it more quickly, which is good really!

TooTicky · 22/04/2007 23:11

They go through phases of more and less smell. Don't know why. Definitely smells worse in disposables though.

fairysnuff · 22/04/2007 23:13

Oh
Bums
Maybe now she is in her own room I won't mind so much also I guess it could have been what she was eating at the time?
But it smelled so bad of brocolli I cut it out. Then realised that she would be getting low in iron and anyway I don't think it made any real odds??

Try washing reusables with no soap - sometimes they get bunged up and that can make them smell.

fairysnuff · 22/04/2007 23:19

I thought about that.
But it is the only one I use at night, I just wash it with the rest and I don't have any problems with them?
If I hand washed it, it would defo be worse

Then again, would washing fuzzi bunz and a wambamboo together leave the wambamboo full of soap?

Yeah I thought they might go through phases actually but have been too lazy to try it out
I don't notice any smell at all with the disposable I use but maybe that is the point....she is going through a non smelly phase and I am still putting her in the throw away, doh!

It isn't that the nappy itself has more soap (although logically I guess where the wambamboo is more absorbant it could have more soap) - its more the length of time and amount of wee in it.

An extra rinse cycle at the end of the wash with no powder every few washes normally prevents build up, and if you put them through on a full no powder cycle it will remove any lurking already iyswim.

It is often much worse with teething too.

fairysnuff · 23/04/2007 23:17

It was a brand new nappy and I washed it abouth three times before use and, of course, every night after use. So it has only had about 5 or 6 washes.
Could it have built up already?
Would it happen that fast?

I threw it into the loft, with every intention of trying again later , must go get it down and try a cold(?) rinse.

If there was a bit too much powder in each wash, then it builds up fairly quickly.

fairysnuff · 24/04/2007 23:24

One Wambamboo in the wash with less powder than I norm use and on for an extra rinse cycle now.
Will try her in it tomorrow night

Goood luch!

fairysnuff · 26/04/2007 12:02

WooHoo!
No smell!
Until you opened her up that is. But, That, I can handle!!

Thanks you for your advice.
Now I am a full time reusable nappy user, and Proud!!
