Chamomile tea for 4 month old?

I’ve been given the advice from multiple people to give lo chamomile tea for her bad wind/fussiness at night but tried it tonight and she hated it. I don’t particularly want to add sugar or anything like that into it but poor dd really wasn’t having any of it. Has anyone else given it to their lo before? And Can I mix it with breastmilk?

Um don't think you should give that but you could try teetha and see if that helps?
I buy chamomilla from helios homeopathy and it is very good. There is a specific remedy for wind as well.

I checked with health visitor and she said it was safe to give from two weeks! I’m a bit worried now? Ooh thanks for the tip, will I be able to find those online? She’s very fussy with taste so was hoping to find something I can mix with her milk to mask it a bit.

It's really safe and baby friendly. You can make it really really dilute and it's still effective. Or get camomilla from Helios as pp suggested.
Also fine to mix with breast milk.

I could be wrong so sorry! I gave mine gripe water, teetha sold most places coop tesco boots. But definitely try helios if your wanting advice for wind etc there service is good and fast delivery. Much cheaper than buying teetha once u know if the chamomilla helps. Boots do an own version as well. X

Chamomila is sweet my kid loves it 😂

Thank you ladies I’ll try those until I find something that works!

I gave mine a mix of Chamomile and Fennel tea to help with wind. Used ordinary teabags. You just need to check the ingredients on package to be sure It's pure.

Made it with hot water earlier in the day and gave it as a cold drink late avo.

TheWeatherGirl1 · 19/12/2017 22:28

Can I ask what sort of quantities you're giving?

chloechloe · 20/12/2017 10:36

I live in Germany and it's standard practice to give babies herbal tea from 2 weeks! Fennel tea especially is good for wind. You can give it as tea or mixed in with breast milk or formula. They can't drink too much per se, but the amount needs to be limited so they don't fill their tummy with tea and drink less milk. My midwife says 100ml over the course of the day should be fine. But only if your baby is a healthy weight and gaining weight well. DD1 for example was only 5lb 7oz at birth and gained weight slowly so I didn't give it to her.

Most babies seem to like the taste of fennel tea for some reason.

If she really don't drink it, you can also drink several cups yourself and some will pass into the breast milk. Again in Germany most mothers drink breastfeeding tea which contains fennel.

Thank you everyone! Interesting about the fennel tea, will give that a try as well and see if she prefers that x

Hi all,
Found this post really interesting and wondering if you have tried this yet @Lifewithliv18 ???

My little boy is 15 weeks old and is my second child. A fussier baby i have never met! He rumbles, grumbles, cries and call’s out all night long 🙄 If is exhausting. Both my husband and I are getting next to no sleep. Counting down the days until we can give him solids and he starts sitting up so hopefully he settles!

Anyway saw a few things about camomile tea and fennel tea. Wondering how this works and when is best to give to baby? Once a night before bed? Or more regular? We have camomile tea in the house so I take it it’s safe to just give an ounce or two of cooled tea and don’t have to buy special baby tea bags (saw them on amazon).

Thanks for any replies and hope they’ve helped your little one OP xxx

I thought it was fennel tea for wind, it is naturally sweeter so she may prefer it

Lifewithliv18 · 23/12/2017 07:22

Hi sleepy mama. She hated it with a passion but gave it one last try and mixed it with expressed milk like others suggested and she took it straight down. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but she actually slept the best she had in months! Woke up in a bit of a panic as I hadn’t hears a peep from her in a while haha! Been doing that since and also started doing a gentle tummy massage before the bottle and it seems to have worked a treat, but have not been doing that long so I hope it sticks!

Good luck if you decide to try it, hope it works for you too! X

Thank you @Lifewithliv18 here’s hoping it helps with both! 🤞🏻

GrabbyMcGrabby · 23/12/2017 10:44

Mine took a mix of both, cooled and had it later afternoon. The fennel for wind, chamomile to calm.
