Hi. I have been reading for ages but never replied. Sorry. I will in future I promise.
Anyhow, I am getting desperate.
I have searched through all the psychology books at the library and cannot find any info on "mental sets". I have an exam on Monday and need info on this. The only info I have on it, is that it is under "Problem solving mechanisms". I have "heuristics" as a problem solving strategy and then this "mental sets". "The tendency to approach new problems with strategies used for solving similar problems in the past". Do you think my lecturer could mean "schemata's? I can ask her on Monday but I really wanted to try and get it in my head before Monday as we get exam on Monday night.
Schemata's is quite indepth and I didn't want to study it and then mental sets turn out to be something completely different. I have loads to study for this exam and just didn't want to end up studying the wrong stuff.
I need to know what mental sets are and the advantages and disadvantages of them.
I realise we all have exams, essays due now so time is such a precious commodity, that any help or advice would be greatly appreciated and received.
Thanks again.
