Dd's hands and arms warm overnight.

Dd is 3 months old. She used to be happily swaddled to sleep but now hates it. She's not a fan if blankets and kicks them off even if she was cold. So we got one of the sleeping bag things. She seems to like it and sleeps better now she's warm but her arms and hands get so cold as our bedroom gets very cold overnight. Husband hates having heating on overnight so I'm trying to find another solution. Any thoughts/ideas. Or is it a none issue really? (She currently has vest and babygrow on while in sleeping bag).

(Yes she is my PFB miracle baby so I do worry about everything all the time😕).

Hello,

How does her torso feel. Babies hands will feel colder than the rest of her body so I was told to go by chest/back for temperature.

Our room atm is 21 degrees and my DS is in a long sleeved vest and baby grow. Do you know how cold your room is?

Merida83 · 27/11/2017 05:11

Not sure of the room temp. But her chest torso and back are all warm and cosy to the touch.

That's good to know thanks.

I think the ideal temp for a baby's bedroom is 18 - 21c isn't it?
Why don't you get one of those card wall thermometers?
Maybe get her some tiny mittens? :)

If her chest etc is warm I’m sure she’s fine Smileour room overnight is between 16-19 degrees and I put my dd in a long sleeved vest with pjs and sleeping bag Smile

Helbelle75 · 27/11/2017 05:31

Our room is about 19 degrees. Dr

You can put a cardi on her too. Her hands will be cold but that probably won’t wake her up.

Do you know how cold the room gets? We have a portable radiator in her room (although yours might be in with you still) for really cold nights.

Stupid phone, posted too early.

Dd has on a sleepsuit and 2.5 tog sleeping bag. Her body's always toasty warm but her hands are sometimes cold.

Jojo Maman do the sleeping bags with arms

If she was cold, she'd be waking up. How is she sleeping?

Put a cardi on, or scratch mittens. But both of mine always had cold hands.

Ecureuil · 27/11/2017 09:09

Is she complaining about cold? Is it waking her?
It’s very normal for a baby’s hands to be cold. As long as their chest/back is warm then it’s absolutely fine.

welshweasel · 27/11/2017 09:10

Honestly don’t worry about it. So long as their body is warm it’s fine. Mine always has freezing hands in the morning. Unless your house is freezing then a short sleeved vest, babygrow and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag should be fine for winter.

Thank you all. I feel bit better now.

Just remembered I got a free cardboard room thermometer with a gift so will put it next to cot and keep an eye on temp overnight tonight.

She's actually now sleeping much better since we stopped using blanket and started with the sleeping bag. Think I'll try a long sleeved vest or cardigan with.

Again thank you all. I've turned into such a worrier since she was born it's nice to have reassurance and helpful suggestions.
