erm... no

although I might if I lived somewhere where you could see the sun.

GooseyLoosey · 18/04/2007 08:50

Uhh, no. We put it on every day when it is sunny and hot. The dcs are covered in clothes in the winter. Do some people do this?

I've heard that models do this protect the skin on their faces. I do use a day cream on my face which has some sun protection in it. I have very dry skin and hate the thought of getting wrinkles.

ScottishThistle · 18/04/2007 08:56

I wear a factor 15 every day, it's in my moisturiser...On hot sunny days I apply a sun cream on top.

Lovecat · 18/04/2007 09:10

My moisturiser has an spf 15, so on face, neck and chestal exposure, yes. Everything else, no.

Thinking about this, though, when I go abroad I tend to just slap factor 8 everywhere (olive skinned, don't burn that easily) so my face is actually more protected in the UK climate than it is in Spain/Greece/wherever!

mankyscotslass · 18/04/2007 09:28

my moisturiser has spf 15 in it. I have to be careful winter or summer as i have rosacea and sun exposure sets it off. So i wear sun protection all year round.

expatinscotland · 18/04/2007 09:30

For me, no.

For the children, yes.

Flakester · 18/04/2007 09:31

yep - moisturiser has SPF15.

oliveoil · 18/04/2007 09:31

sunscreen in my moisturiser

no for children atm but yes in high summer

Lazycow · 18/04/2007 09:33

On my face - yes - I always put on a moisturiser or a face base with SPF 15 or more - pretty much every day even on sunny winter days (not that we get many of those. On very sunny days when I am out a lot I put on SPF 30+ on my face

On my body - no unless I am out in the sun a lot and it is a very sunny day.

fryalot · 18/04/2007 09:37

so if I don't put sun cream on every day, even in the winter, will I end up looking like this ?

Hulababy · 18/04/2007 09:42

No. I put it on if it is sunny and hot and that is it.

When it is cloder DD is covered up, so can't see the point!

ScottishThistle · 18/04/2007 09:42

Squonk, when I worked in Italy I saw many women who looked like that!

Lazycow · 18/04/2007 09:45

Exactly Scottish Thistle. Many of my older female relatives (most of them have lived on Italian farms all their lives) look just like that

fryalot · 18/04/2007 09:46
ScottishThistle · 18/04/2007 09:50

As a very fair skinned Scots Women I always wear factor 50 & a hat in summer, also known amongst my friends as factor duffel coat!

However I feel I'll have the last laugh when they're moaning about their shrivelled skin in 20yrs time!

RubberDuck · 18/04/2007 09:56

No - use it when risk of burning, but you need the vitamin D that your skin generates from sunlight. I remember reading that there are now increased cases of vitamin D deficiency and rickets in children because of extensive sunblock use.

ScottishThistle · 18/04/2007 10:01

I believe exposing your skin to 10/15mins of sun 2/3 times a week is enough for your body to get it's Vitamin D requirement!

sandcastles · 18/04/2007 10:09

Me Yes
dd Yes

Everyday since Dec. It's getting boring now.

Washersaurus · 18/04/2007 10:26

I don't put suncream on myself or DS unless we are out in the sun for a prolonged period (I always carry some in our change bag just in case). It isn't very good for his eczema - I do always insist that he wears a hat though....and neither of us go out topless

TeeCee · 18/04/2007 10:29

Agian another with a factor in my face cream but no to everywhere else. I really only use it on my body if I am properly sat trying to catch the sun, or if I got a bit burnt on my shoulder the day before, or if on holiday.

Kids - if in direct sun in garden all day I'd just bung their uv suits on for part of day and then yeah I'd chuck a bit of lotion on if sun was strong. I'd chuck a bit on legs and arms if in buggy and walking around in sun.
