What age to take a bath alone?

My DD, 6, has recently requested to take a bath alone. Usually bath time is her and her brother, 2. I'm not 100% comfortable because of the drowning risk but at the same time I don't want to discourage her independance. Our Bathroom is right next to our lounge so I have compromised tonight telling her ok but the door is to be left open so we can occasionally pop our heads round. What age do you think is appropriate to bathe alone?

I think there's a difference between baths not with another child and baths alone. I think I definitely would with the baths with her brother as soon as she asks not to. 6 seems quite old still for that. But I would say we have left ours on her own in the bath since the latter end of 3. She's 4 now. She's not completely on her own. One of us is always within earshot (in our bedroom which is right next to the bath or in her room which is just a tiny bit down the hall) and the door is always open. We can hear her playing in there and we check in verbally with her regularly, but we aren't just standing right there the whole time. We're never out of earshot though, so we'd know if she stood and fell or something like that. We can always hear what she's doing. But yes, I'd say from late 3 years and now into 4. She's by herself unless one of us is helping to washing her or handing her her toothbrush.

Does she mean alone in the bathroom or bath without her brother

Six is fine IMO, as long as there are no disabilities or epilepsy or anything that would make it unsafe. My 6-year-old always baths alone now (mainly because he and my other DS are too big to comfortably bath together and they fight!). I'm in and out, getting their bedrooms ready, picking up clothes off the floor, prepping tooth brushes, etc, but he can be on his own for 5-10 mins if I get distracted by something.
