Have a 21 month dd with no words yet all .
She does wave and clap and points ( not to what she wants ) but she'll just randomly point to things that we point to .
She can point to her nose and tries to copy gestures.
She's interactive and smiley etc but can get quiet angry when we dont understand what she wants .
She is sociable . Waves to other kids and watches them etc
Have two older kids .
5 year old and 4 year old and both where talking by now .
Eldest was able to say 3-4 words together by now " mummy I am sad " and middle child was just saying " mum " " ball " etc by now but from what I remember had lots of words .
Just feel really worried about her and the hv wont refer on until she's hit 2 years old

Mine is almost 23months and only has a few words. My nephew didn’t talk until he was 3.
If you’re worried, take her to a speech therapist and see what they say but if kids this age can understand you’re instruction etc and are trying to copy and make noises, personally I think that’s fine.

She does try and copy noises
Eg I blow my noise and she tries to

But she doesn't follow " please bring me your shoe " etc

Maybe get an appointment with speech therapist / GP.
Could she have glue ear or something?

DD2 only started saying proper words at around 21 months, she’s 23.5 months now and has lots of words as well as joining 2-3 words together, so it can develop really quickly once they get going.
