Hi I just wondered if there's anybody like me on maternity leave or SAHM that doesn't drive and how you're finding it?
Thanks.

Not me, but a couple of women from my antenatal group are in this position and those of us who can drive offer them lifts to meetups. I'm becoming an expert at installing various brands of carseats in my car!

I imagine you must feel a bit stranded..Do you live rurally or is there transport available?

Oh that's lovely of you. I bet they must really appreciate it because pushchairs on buses are such a pain. I'm lucky I have good-ish transport links at least, wish baby groups were alittle closer preferably in walking distance though rather than having to bus it to other side of town!

I can drive now but did my first mat leave when I couldn’t drive. It was totally fine because I was used to not driving! And I’m lucky to live in a place with good public transport. A few friends couldn’t fathom how I could possibly manage and said they were scared to get the tram/bus with their pram, because they were so used to driving everywhere it seemed very daunting to them. I can see how it would be challenging if you live somewhere with less convenient public transport though.

I must admit sometimes I wish I could just stick DS in the car and just get somewhere in minutes as it would be so much easier. It's becoming alittle easier as he gets abit older but in the early weeks it would have been great to have my car to run too of little man had a melt down in public and you're home quickly. Would have been great for naps too. Luckily now he is only having 2 naps a day so going becoming a little easier at least

Me. Currently on Mat Leave, don’t drive. It doesn’t usually both me, any place I want to go is within walking distance or bus journey. Sometimes I wish I did, like today when I have to go get stuff for tea but can’t be bothered to start the 40 min routine for getting us out of the house 😞 mind you, DH car is in the garage so would of had to of walked somewhere anyway!

I think cars are handy to zip around in especially when little ones on tight scedules. Packinf pram up is such a mission incase forget anything and feel like a packhorse where as at least with cars you can just bung it all in the boot! Wish I lived closer to the baby groups and things as is abit of a hassle.
