is he in size 5 for a weight reason? Am only asking because DS2 is 2 and in 4/4+. Maybe try a different brand? even just switching to a different kind of huggies may help.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/04/2007 10:53

last time i got him weighed he was 31 lbs. but that was a few months ago.

pampers size 5+
Huggies are crap.

Nemo2007 · 16/04/2007 10:54

lol maybe try pampers??? Or have heard tescos own are good

accessorizewithbabysick · 16/04/2007 10:59

I always found tescos to be sized bigger than pampers, don't know about huggies. But using cloth for night might be less hassle than changing the bed 3 times a week!

Kelly1978 · 16/04/2007 11:00

tescos own gave my dts severe nappy rash.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/04/2007 11:01

i was using tesco's own brand. can't remember why i swtiched. maybe it's time to switch again.
and to make matters worse we co-sleep. so it's MY bed that needs to be changed 3 times a week!!

I started using Tots Bots for exactly the same reason - no leaks and less washing than changing the bed

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/04/2007 11:05

that might be the answer then. how many do you think i would need for a kid his age?

OP posts:
DaisyMOO · 16/04/2007 16:05

I would suggest that you fill out a questionnaire here as Tots Bots aren't the best choice for everyone. Make it clear in the comments section that you're looking for night nappies and how frequently you'd like to wash them and you should be advised appropriate quantities. HTH

accessorizewithbabysick · 16/04/2007 22:03

If you look further down nappies threads, I think there were a few about night nappies recently (for older children). Ella's House hemp ones get a good write up for this purpose I think.

susie40 · 16/04/2007 22:05

We had this problem with DS - ended up putting another nappy a size larger over the top of the first one which worked quite well. Then we found that the Tesco super dry (or whatever they are called) were more absorbent than the Pampers we had been using. Try size 6.

Whoooosh · 16/04/2007 22:07

I find the Tesco ones way better than Huggies-actually find Huggles crap but pampers ok.

Hilllary · 16/04/2007 22:08

ooh I hate huggies, pampers are so much better

purplemonkeydishwasher · 17/04/2007 06:48

i didn't know they made a size 6! will have a look.

ds woke up wet with huggies everytime, now on pampers baby dry and never wet!

Mum2FunkyDude · 17/04/2007 07:23

just a thought, is it possible that he is actually weeing over the top of the nappy, i.o.w. the waist might gape a little and his willy is pointing upward for instance if his lying on his back? I found that with huggies, pampers has an elasticated waist that prevents that.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 17/04/2007 08:33

TBH i think it's just that he pees SO MUCH during the night that by morning it has nowhere to go but out! you know how diapers swell when they are wet, well his are swelled all the way up to the waist band. he pees a lot.

DS is exactly the same in disp. Had to use them recently as ds had thrush and I use the same nappies for dd2 and I did what susie40 did. Size 6 and tescos. Pampers leaked every time. They are too big for the day but fine for night.

Flamesparrow · 23/04/2007 08:12

If you do decide to go the reusable route then bamboo is one of your best bets - a bambineo with extra bamboo boosters and an motherease airflow wrap would be very absorbant and waterproof.

I would say 4 nappies, 2 wraps and 8 boosters (you might only need one extra booster per nappy but you can guarantee if I say just 4 boosters he'll soak through em ). If you don't use softner in your washing then you can just put them through a normal wash cycle, if you do then you can wash them every 3 days and have a "spare" for those nights when they poo just as you get em ready for bed - rinse the wraps in the morning and they will be dry by bedtime.
