I know it's not the most common but I'm curious how common it is?

My 12 month old does he has 3 meals a day at nursery but as breakfast isn't until 9am there he has mini breakfast before he goes.

DrDiva · 08/11/2017 20:50

Nah, my DS eats once a day.

He starts at 7 in the morning and finishes at 7 at night. I have no clue where he puts it, he’s a rake.

I am dreading the teenage years - probably should start saving now!

mindutopia · 09/11/2017 10:26

Mine has two snacks a day. I don't consider it a meal, but the afternoon was is usually quite sizeable as she usually comes home from school really hungry. But it's still snack type food : fruit, cheese, crackers, breadsticks, carrot sticks, yogurt, etc. I don't really think of it as a meal, but she does eat a lot. We have that around 4 and dinner is at 6:30pm.

Breakfast, lunch , dinner and supper if dinner has been light ( like soup and a roll)

Needadvicetoleave · 09/11/2017 10:35

At nursery, DS (22 months) gets breakfast, lunch (2 course hot meal), snack (fruit, veg sticks, humus, crackers), a small tea (sandwiches, soup, potato cakes etc) then comes home, has a snack of milk and fruit and then supper of a Weetabix or porridge.

At weekends, it's breakfast, lunch, hot tea and supper of Weetabix. But I think I give bigger portions than nursery so he doesn't need the snacks.

I'm overweight and like to snack between meals so I'm really cautious of not getting DS in to that habit, but without alerting him to that fact!

If he doesn't have supper then he sleeps even more terribly and wakes up in the night crying with hunger.

We do 6 I guess... if we're counting snacks

'Home breakfast' 6am: fruit and some kind of relatively healthy cereal bar

School breakfast 8am: cereal, toast, porridge, eggs, fruit, etc (not sure how much of this they eat hence the home breakfast first)

Morning snack 10am: usually fruit, veg or granola. Sometimes yoghurt or a baked item.

Lunch 12.30pm: cooked meal at school

Afternoon snack 4pm: similar to morning snack but more often a muffin/baked item (provided by school if I am working, if at home we have pancakes, Grießbrei or 'power food' which is warm fruit, oats, Yoghurt, honey and seeds with a blob of nut butter)

Dinner 6.30pm: usually soup, a salad or sandwiches, but occasionally a more substantial meal.

Smellylittleorange · 09/11/2017 17:51

I used to do this with Dd but now a teen she likes to have control of her food and grazes constantlyHmm

Beowulf007 · 09/11/2017 17:53

Never heard of 4 meals. They get breakfast, lunch and dinner. A snack before bed, never a meal.

Cantusethatname · 09/11/2017 18:39

Come and see what DS20 DS18 and Ds16 eat, Four meals a day is the least of it.

Natsku · 09/11/2017 18:42

Sort of - afterschool/midafternoon snack is usually fairly substantial like toast and something, or some salad, or a sandwich, because she has lunch so early at school (11:30) and we don't have tea until half 5 or 6 usually. If I don't feed her something more substantial then she usually asks for snacks all afternoon which gets annoying and isn't too healthy.

holdbackonthewine · 09/11/2017 18:58

We did the breakfast, lunch, after school snack (something like a crumpet) then dinner. They were usually doing something active after school though so needed something.

silkpyjamasallday · 09/11/2017 19:24

Dd has breakfast, lunch, dinner and sometimes some buttery toast for supper if she hasn't eaten as much in the day as usual. She is only 14 months though and I'm trying to cram as much food into her as possible so she won't keep waking 4+ times in the night for half hour breastfeeds.

ButterfliesAreWeird · 09/11/2017 20:37

No I wasn't counting snack or it would be about 10 😂

Breakfast lunch and dinner and occasionally a snack or treat x

NapQueen · 09/11/2017 20:38

Mine have breakfast at 8am, lunch at 12, dinner at 4 with the CM and all her mindees then supper (cereal or toast) at 7 before bed.

clarinsgirl · 09/11/2017 20:46

Yes, four or even 5 here. DS2 has fruit when he wakes (pre-breakfast), then breakfast. Lunch at school, snack when he gets in and tea later. Mine need to eat little and often.

trinitybleu · 09/11/2017 20:51

DD has biscuits on waking, breakfast (sometimes 2) - toast / crumpets /waffles x 2 and cereal, snack - cereal bar, biscuit, Winder, fruit flakes (2 items from this list), lunch - wrap / cous cous, crisps, 2 veg with salsa / hummus, 2 fruit, 2 yogurt tubes, snack - biscuit and fruit, tea at after school club - jacket potato, nuggets, curry etc, dinner - similar to tea, and sometimes supper - cereal / toast / crackers. At least 5 a day.

She's 10, 5 foot 3 and a size 4.

BrutusMcDogface · 10/11/2017 06:43

Blimey, trinity! I'm going to have to double my hours at work if my kids end up eating that much!!

They have 3 meals and two snacks at the mo; morning snack at school is just a piece of fruit, and then afternoon snack when I pick them up from school. If they have too big a snack at this point, they don't eat their dinner.

Sometimes - on days when they have dancing at 5.30pm they sometimes have tea and supper before and after dancing as they are ravenous.

IHaveACuntingPlan · 10/11/2017 07:47

Ours have always had 4 meals - breakfast and supper of a cereal such as weetabix. Dinner at school (or at home on a weekend) and a tea at about 4.30pm. As they get older they'll have their evening meal later when their dad gets home instead of a supper but then they'll probably have a light snack after school to put them on.

BertieBotts · 10/11/2017 07:51

In Germany - DS has breakfast before school, 2nd breakfast at school which is like a small packed lunch, then lunch, and dinner when he gets home.

I find it rather annoying TBH. I have to pay for a hot lunch and still provide a packed lunch too.

tinypop4 · 10/11/2017 07:58

Mine has breakfast when they get up at 7,
Lunch at 12
Dinner at around 5.30.
That's it.

They might have a small snack after school If they say they're hungry but not a 4th meal.

Lules · 10/11/2017 08:13

If he's at nursery then yet as they have tea at 4.30 and he'd be hungry at night. He normally has some of whatever dinner we're having.

DaisyRaine90 · 11/11/2017 08:44

I used to give my daughter warm weetabix before bed sometimes if she was really hungry when she was a toddler

Otherwise

4yo

Breakfast
Lunch (with pudding only if she’s at school)
Snack sometimes (only if she asks)
Dinner

Friday sweets on Fridays but usually she chooses a toy or magazine now
Pudding and chocolate on special occasions
