I got my first wrap a few days ago and have just attempted my first back carry with it.
She is still in it now trying to peek over my shoulder...it's so comfy! We've been to the shops and I have done some washing up.

Pic on my profile for a limited time! (Pic are actually of second back carry as I wanted DH here when I took ehr down the first time!)

Does this mean I can't?

That's great . DS loves being carries, but I'm finding the back carry a bit difficult as he can wriggle his bum out of it after a while - must practice more .

What type of wrap is it? My Didymos has now been washed and dried so will be tgaking DS out in it again today.

Yeah for back carries. It is fab when you get that carry right, as there is a limit to what you can do with a baby in a front carry.

We took our DD to Blackpool zoo a couple of days ago and I wore her in a back carry for the three hours we were there...much easier than all the other parents pushing empty prams and carrying babies in arms.

Where are your photos ?

So how do you avoid the wrap slipping back over your LO's bum? I make sure it's under his knees to start with, but he's a v wriggly baby and it soon slips up. BTW, he;s only 6 months so the front carry is working out pretty well for us ATM.

Photos are on my profile somewhere!
I got it from ebay, it was only a tenner, a woman is making them.

I haven't had a problem with it riding up yet, we do go out in a Mei Tai and that hasn't ridden up but I make sure it is up to her knees and tie her in so tight she can't move!

looks fab - how old is she chirpygirl

chirpygirl Love your photos and fab position for a second time back carry. My poor DD was a bit lob sided for a while, until I got the hang of it

Swizzler It is a matter of practicing the wraps and having a grippy wrap...I have several slings and I found the best one for back carries by a mile is an older Girasol and the worse one my new Nino Didy.

But once I got a lot of practice on tying the Girasol, I can do an OK back carry with all my slings, still prefer my Girasol though.

DD is 14 months.

I was a bit unconvinced by how comfy it was round her legs to be honest as I can't get it to spread out like all the lovely pictures say you should! It seems to cut in but I can't fix it on my own...oh well, practise makes perfect!

DD still prefers to be in the Mei tai...typical!

I have got an Ergo that I carry DS2 in he is almost 11 months. I have attempted the back carry but was out in the garden and he was the wriggliest little monkey.

Do you think he will be happy in the back carry? I don't know how long I can carry him in the front carry for he is getting tall and his head just sits under my chin with the Ergo tied on my hips.

I loved my mei tai but didn't want to back carry him in it as getting him in and out would have been a problem although with the Ergo I find it easy.

Loved your photos by the way!!!

chirpygirl · 15/04/2007 22:48

I have found getting in and out of the back carry in a mei tai a doddle. I put her in as if I am doing a hip carry, grab both top straps and put them either side of my head and slide the waist strap round while hoiking her round. That way I know she is secure and it isn't creased or whatever and the straps are instantly in the right place. (I hope that makes sense!) getting her down is just the reverse, and she is a wriggly little bugger!

The only problem I had was I have to use a rucksack carry, if I cross the straps my boobs turn into madonna cones and do NOT look good

I use the hip scoot to get my DD on my back with a mei tai and I use the santa toss to get her on my back with a wrap and people do panic when I do that one but again it is the best way of getting her on my back wsith the wrap centred properly and with her being securely in place.

belgo · 16/04/2007 07:52

I'm impressed chirpy girl! I had a wrap sling for ages, but never worked out how to use it on my back. I use the ergo on my back, which is great.

Sorry I missed your photos.

chirpygirl · 16/04/2007 08:46

Too slow for my pics! I just don't want some people to know who I am and I knew they were away from a pc yesterday....!

Chirpy: with the rucksack carry, you don't have to cross it in front (not a good look for the large of nork). You can pass the neds under your arms instead IYSWIM. You're left with more material in the end but works OK for me.

Must practice more
