^as above really! This is our first, and apart from seeing the babies of others, I have no clue how to do a thing!

Confused will I learn on the job?

I had no experience at all. My eldest has made it to 16 so I think you just learn as you go along Grin

Seeline · 29/10/2017 11:28

Oh - and when the second comes along, and you think you'll be fine having done it all before, you find out each one is different........

teaandbiscuitsforme · 29/10/2017 13:27

You’ll be fine! I only held a baby for the first time 2 weeks before my DD was born and I had to ask a Midwife how to change a nappy. Don’t stress, it’s a steep learning curve but it’s soon second nature!

Honestly you will never know what your doing you'll wing it a lot and feel like your not getting anywhere but you will I promise x

BiglyBadgers · 29/10/2017 13:29

It's OK, we're all just winging it I promise you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lieing or delusional. Grin Wink

Nobody knows what they're doing and there's really no way to prepare you for it, you will learn on the job. I had several moments thinking 'somebody tell me what to do I have no fucking clue what I'm doing!' when dd was tiny. There is so much conflicting information and advice, there is no 'right' way to do most things anyway.

If you think about it, no animal 'knows' before they reproduce, but they manage being parents just fine. It soon becomes second nature.
